Everything from this session was so rad. His early footage is such a blast.

I like how he runs to get the guitar, and jumps toward the microphone just as he's about to play it, but then doesn't use it.

I loved the image switch from hippie street performer kid wih the jeans and slacker look, to the slick rock star with the leisure suit and ascot. Both were cool and shows how so much of music is image in the publics eye.

I understand where your coming from, a lot of musicians are incredible and as they "progress" and change styles they become something COMPLETELY different and sound horrible. Beck still maintains a good sense of creating music even if its different every time. Hes still a musical phenom!

Miss the old Beck? Have you listened to his last 4 albums as opposed to just hearing them? Absolutely brilliant. He keeps on growing and changing instead of getting stale and making the same type of music over and over. He can try and succeed in any style he wants. I'll be a fan as long as the old Beck never comes back for two albums in a row. His next album should be completely acoustic.

13 years later and the last few albums he put out have been too pop and crowd pleasing. Hell that’s been the deal since Modern Guilt

@@SpikeShooter92 Yeah, I liked Morning Phase as a Sunday morning or late night album but have not like his last two at all. Some good songs here and there but disappointing as records. 13 years later it’s me saying “miss the old Beck”. Have liked the two songs he did w Gorillaz though.

With him though it's sort of an impossibility... nothing he does is ever really "expected"... hell, the only "bland" Beck album (this is my opinion so calm down, lol) is Modern Guilt. I have his entire catalog (including a lot of unreleased stuff) and that album, as a whole, seemed like his most uninspired work, Most of the songs sound very similar in feeling. I heard that he was possibly working on 2 albums at the moment... so I'm really happy about that.

I'm not forgetting Mutations or sea Change or One Foot In The Grave or Stereopathetic Soul Manure. Mostly acoustic albums. Bob Dylan has made countless acoustic albums and none of them sound exactly the same. Beck is such a talented and competent songwriter that he can pull anything off. Anyway, just because you are playing an acoustic guitar does not mean every song will sound the same.

no idea how anyone even back in the 90s could shit on this guy. experimentalism with electronics is good, especially when clearly he's got a firm understanding of music unlike the shit we have today which is nothing but droning sounds played by a bunch of rich kids trying too hard to be weird and 'the future of music'. ahem, animal collective, ahem.
