Ali, thanks, again such a wonderful presentation. For beginners, all the parameters for connected mode are received by UE in RRC Connection reconfiguration messages. There you will see measobjid (for which frequency there needs to be measurements) then reportconfigid ( what type of event is to be measured and for which measurement type like rsrp/rsrq and reported with its threshold, offset, hysteresis, time to trigger, report periodicity etc) and also measid ( measurement report id that matches a specific measobjid and a specific reportconfigid). Then when you will see a measurement report ID =5 for example you will know for sure to which frequency belongs that report ( from measobjid of that measurement id=5 for example EARFCN 3050) and what event was reported and for which PCI ( inside the measurement report there is the PCI of the neighbor cell that triggered the event for example event A5 for PCI 389). What Ali forgot to mention is that those days UEs are hardly staying in idle mode, most of the time are in connected mode. So mobility in connected mode is more important than mobility in idle mode.

Nice , Thanks once again ! If we set the inter freq measurement based on Event A3, then for connected mode HO will these A5 thresholds play any role or ignored?
@OurTechPlanet
2 жыл бұрын
If you IFHO event set as A3 then there is no role of A5.

For Event A5, Serving Cell RSRP and NBR Cell RSRP both are checked that's why you preferring Event A5 instead A4 where once A2 Event is triggered then it all has to check if NBR Cell RSRP is better than a defined threshold, similarly IRAT Handover case with Event B1 & B2 Secondly Event A5 Serving Cell RSRP threshold should be less than Event A2 RSRP Threshold correct? From low priority RAT to higher priority RAT, IRAT Redirection is a better strategy or IRAT Handover is?
@OurTechPlanet
2 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right. A5 threshold for serving cell should be lower than A2 threshold.
@OurTechPlanet
2 жыл бұрын
For IRAT low prio to high prio, commonly redirection is preferred because of implementation issues.

@@OurTechPlanet Also which Event A4/B1 or A5/B2 you will prefer and reason for that?
@sauminkotadia7517

Nice one. But here in connected mode no where mentioned there are 2 thresholds for A5. One is for serving & other in for Nbr. Need to meet both after A2 trigger for Inter freq HO. Also one more query. In same technology during Inter frequency HO from lower priority frequency to higher priority frequency in connected mode, need to follow same process which u mentioned in example from higher to lower i.e. by A2 & A5 threshold? (As u mentioned that frequency priority is not really any role during connected mode)
@OurTechPlanet
2 жыл бұрын
yes, you are right that there are two A5 Thresholds. Yes, in connected mode, coverage based handovers , the process is same. If Priority based IFHOs are enabled then the process changes slightly.

Salam Ali, Thanks for your time to prepare Slide :) Well, I have question : This Setting Applicable for VoLte Handover Strategy as we have different Profile for Data and VoLte users. Thanks.

Usually the data and VoLTE mobility should be different to maintain VoLTE's quality of service. These two sessions are more relevant to data rather than VoLTE.
