The real trick is by not viewing it as having no experience, but by taking your experience and past professional interactions and spinning them with the correct verbiage to apply to what position you want. What he says and expands on is great and extremely relevant! This all is why you see so many former military NCO’s as Project Managers.

I’ve worked my way up to plant manager for a small printing company and just finished my my BLS with a minor in Management. Been working with this company for 17 years and have gained intimate knowledge in all processes in the industry over the past 21 years. Unfortunately promises from owners are not coming through and I’m thinking about pivoting my career into PM at 40. Looking at job posting requirements I definitely lack some of the formal training and requirements so I’m not sure how reasonable it is to expect to break into PM from my position. My biggest advantage is that each print job is in essence a project. Wish me luck.

Hi Elvis,this is not only a very useful presentation but a brilliant simplified version to explain the PM role. I absolutely love it. Just subscribed 🎉😊 oh and do you have any similiar video presentations about a Delivery Manager role?? Or a video about the differences and similarities between PM and DM roles?
@yourprojectleadershipcoach2291
8 ай бұрын
Hi! I don't have a video on the DM role, but I can tell you here that the delivery manager role is often found at larger companies, especially Consulting firms. At a smaller company project managers also act as delivery managers. Where it exists, a delivery manager is typically a slightly more elevated role than that of a project manager. A project manager runs the day to day project and team, while a delivery manager tends to own the customer relationship. They spend their time managing customer relationships. A delivery manager will typically have multiple projects under their responsibility and project managers sort of report up through them as delivery managers ultimately own the relationship with the customer. I hope this helps!

Does not look too promising at the company but will keep applying.

Can you explain the role of project Manager with a real project example.For eg - upgrade of legacy datacentre ? I would also be helpful to understand from when a PM gets into a project and what they begin with and what documents they are responsible for?
