Are you making excuses not to compost like "my yard is too small" or "I live in an apartment" or "I don't want stinky compost"? Well, I think you might like this compact indoor composting method that turns food waste into compost in just 6 weeks.
When I first started looking into Bokashi Composting, I didn't know any local gardener that used this technique. So, I went on a fact finding mission to figure out how I could compost as much of my food waste as possible in an affordable way. I learned that I could compost more than food waste, but things like dog hair composted easier and faster through Bokashi fermenting! I also learned I could create compost faster with Bokashi than other methods!
I found 2 ways to start: "ready to go" materials and "DIY" set up.
You can use my affiliate link below to purchase a "ready to go" set up from my favorite provider.

This episode features a DIY bucket set up, and you can find out how to inoculate bran in the DIY Bokashi Bran Flake episode. • DIY Bokashi Bran Flake
Disclaimer In this video, I am fermenting scraps in a sealed Bokashi bucket for 3 weeks indoors at 70 degrees. Then, the bucket is dumped and evenly spread into a leaf compost bin outdoors, covered with leaves, and left for 3 weeks in this "cold compost" set up in hot summer and kept hydrated. In cooler climates or dry climates, this process may work slower outdoors. In a hot compost system, compost cannot be added directly from a hot compost pile to beds without cooling down.
