This reminds me of agame called cell lab: evolution sandbox It's a great mobile game. It's sandbox but puzzle based I had a lot of fun playing it like around 5 years ago. It gets very complex and once you get the hang of things, the only limit is your imagination and like 20 different cell type player can make. I found out needing more by the end, making spore-like multicellular organisms where I programmed it to create a layer of 'skin' around itself to protect itself from the predators in the environment and then keep dividing over and over, and burst out of its own skin and eat the other predators. I was very proud of that creation. I'd suggest for you to try it lath. It seems right up your ally
