Ha. Perfect timing with this. I started exercising last week to prep myself for racing as well. Have my leathers already being made. Can't wait.

That's great, will this be your first go at racing?

@@motorcyclenewsdotcom Yes it will be. I will be using a CRF450 at Crail on the 11th for training. Booked it from a really nice man that rents the bike out and gives anyone advice and such. I fancied myself the 150 class as there is already a girl racing them and it will be easier to get into I'm told. So i'm very much looking forward to that.

I raced in 2009 through to 2011 and never took my fitness serious What a waste of those Seasons were. Had miles more talent than i had fitness and I completely let myself down. Fitness has to be one of the most important parts of racing a bike.

Nice work. Shows you've got balls and I admire your honesty about nerves and so on. My advice - nerves just mean you want it. They're on your side. Keep us posted, I'm looking forward to the next one. And feeling a little bit inspired if I'm honest...

Your doing this the right way i started racing last year at 18.5stone and unfit. And after the first 3 day race weekend i felt like id had a bike crash. Was happy with my results but frustrating knowing your could have done better. Hope your enjoying the racing.

If you want to get stronger, don't bother with press ups and sits ups. Get yourself to the gym, and focus on compound movements! Works numerous muscles at once, and doesn't take long to do

Dan, good on you for chasing the dream. Nice to hear Bardney getting a mention on the Tube, even if it was as a result of an over ambitious cycling fizz session!!

It's a dangerous thing to set unrealistic goals for yourself - 19 miles x2 is still lots for people that do regular exercise but do not practise cycling. Be happy you managed 10, don't be hard on yourself - only when you do not improve should you feel that you have to change something. Baby steps can take you a long way. I really hope you do good on your adventure, sounds like a thing I would also really like to do, so good on you for being able to do it :D

running Vs cycling point is fair. Have the same issue, I love cycling, but in terms of fitness you've got to go some distance to achieve the same intensity.

If i'd watched this video a year ago i would have questioned why you need to be physically fit to race bikes. Having done some trackdays this year i can totally understand that fitness plays a massive role. Everytime i finished a session i was panting like a dog and ashamedly didn't have the strength to complete one of the more demanding trackdays. Well done on your journey!

This is really inspiring! I've wanted to go racing my whole life and it's my dream to do so but I don't have the money and I just really wanna do it which really annoys me.I'm still a teenager at the moment and I just wish there was some way I can get into it as soon as possible.
