On Sunday 26th October 2003, H.M. Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Mr S.C. Whitbread, unveiled a commemorative plaque to Bedford Group Royal Observer Corps which had their wartime and then Cold War Headquarters buildings at the end of Day's Lane in Biddenham from 1942-1992.
The nuclear bunker was demolished and houses built on the site. The cul-de-sac was named Observer Close in a fitting tribute.
