"I've Decided to Join the Air Force" was written specially for the occasion when the Bee Gees played at the Royal Albert Hall earlier in 1968 with the musicians of the Royal Air Force backing them.
Idea was a television special starring the Bee Gees with Brian Auger and The Trinity, Julie Driscoll and Lil Lindfors. It was aired on 11 December 1968 on ZDF. It was directed by Jean-Christophe Averty. Belgian artist Guy Peellaert provided art direction.
This special was intended to promote their new album "Idea" on French television. The Bee Gees performed ten songs from their "Horizontal" and "Idea" LPs. It also features the guest appearances by Brian Auger and The Trinity, Julie Driscoll and Lil Lindfors.
