Anyone who attended a Bee Gees concert will tell you that they sounded as good if not better than in their recordings. Their harmonies are unequaled and even though the three had great voices individually, when they harmonized together it was magical. Loved your reaction, please react to ONE from their 1989 One album, you can find a fantastic live performance of this song, thank you. ❤❤❤

I grew up with this great group & had a lot of their albums. Most people react to their disco era. My favorites are from the 60's-70's. Some of their early hits were "New York Mining Disaster 1941", "Holiday", "World", "And The Sun Will Shine", "Really & Sincerely", "The Singer Sang His Song", "Lonely Days", "Melody Fair", "First Of May", "I Started A Joke", "I've Gotta Get A Message To You", "To Love Somebody" etc.

That's the only BeeGee's era that I enjoy. I have a deep seated discomfort with disco music. Being a child of the 60's and 70's only to see the music I loved so much toxified by mirror balls, leisure suits and John Travolta.

@David - i read about the ‘disco backlash’ of people in rented stadiums and smashing vinyl records. Sounds a bit extreme tbh. Can’t stand Tom Cruise, John Travolta, or any Scientology. They are outright against medicine which got the population up to where Scientology could begin in the first place. The guy you mentioned, his wife died young of a very preventable/ treatable condition. She was actress, forget her name.

Great reaction! This song was one of the early ones from 1968 in their pre disco, pre falsetto period. Yes, there were 4 Gibb brothers. The youngest, Andy was also a singer but passed away aged 30 in 1988. Sadly now, only Barry survives. Truly amongst the greatest and most respected singers and songwriters of all time.

You are spot on correct Bisscute. The Bee Gees were magical in the recording studio, but they could also do it on stage as well. Although they were very popular in their day, their talent was also kind of taken for granted and even mocked by many. As people reflect and listen again to them, it really hits you just how massively talented they were. Abba is another group like that.

Buna 🖐️ A Heartfelt performance by the Gibb Bros with you Biss makes any day that much better. I liked that Robin was on lead vocals & the magic that always happens when the harmonies come in, there was also originally a orchestra involved. It was their first number 1 hit & you can see how much it means to them in reflection. The song was the antithesis to the flower power anthems of the summer of love with it's lyrics, joining the hippies in Frisco but feeling homesick for the girl on " the day I left her standing on her own" , they had never been to Massachusetts just liked how it sounded with its S's. Robin recalled coming up with it on a boat while arriving at the St Regis hotel execited to be in NYC. It's other claim to fame is that it's the 2nd record to be played on radio 1 after flowers in the rain in england , & the first western act to reach number 1 in Japan. It was intended for the 'seekers' originally who were also from Australia but get the song to them so did themselves, in 2003 the seekers record it as a tribute following Maurice passing. It's sad that only Barry still around , a few years ago there was the album of country covers of bee gees classics & the greenfields songbook , & the how do you mend a broken heart documentary was shown again just recently, what a extraordinary lecacy they've given us. Thank you Bisscute, I'm sure there's more to come, I already included my suggestions . God bless 💞 🤗 🤟 kzitem.info/news/bejne/uHeMzn5js3-jooI kzitem.info/news/bejne/lXd_1m2JkmejgYY kzitem.info/news/bejne/0ppnvGmpaX2IZoI kzitem.info/news/bejne/sICnn3mih3ieqKw

Good reaction, and a nice gentle song - they were failing with this stuff - then they discovered there funk groove and became the World's no. 1. Oh and Biss, vocalists singing together do Harmony's - Harmonics are basically tones and a kind of tech - frequency term. Let the Journey continue!

Not sure if this was in the UK only, but back in the 90’s/maybe early 2000’s, they performed on a show called “An Audience With The Bee Gees.” In that show, Robin performs a song called ‘Ellan Vannin’ - I cannot recommend it highly enough. The quality picture wise is not the best, but hearing Robin’s voice on that song… it still haunts me to this day.

I have read about this song. The guy singing (its writer) was on an aeroplane and “heard the song” in the vibration of the engines or the propellors. He was a heavy drug user. He also wrote ‘I started a joke’ so it may have been that song. The “tall” guy is the only one that is left, the oldest, all the others are dead. 1989 is the performance year, that year they scored a hit record with ‘You win again’ which gave them a number 1 hit in four consecutive decades. It was written by Michael Jackson. (He also wrote the Eric Clapton hit ‘Behind the mask’.) There were 4 Gibb brothers but only three were in the BeeGees band. They are from Isle of Man which is in Britain but not fully under British rule. (There is no speed limit there and homosexuality is banned). The Isle of Man or Manx people and currency - it is between England and Ireland. The family moved to Manchester, then to Australia (their father did not want his boys to end up in jail etc), then they moved to USA. Hugely famous and successful band. The tall guy Barry has a son who is involved in music but I forget his name. Great reaction Biss, I think this song could possibly have been written in the Seventies. They also wrote ‘Chain Reaction’ for Diana Ross and ‘Islands in the Stream’, a kind of rock/ country hit record.

The Bee Gees are one of many Australian artists to have had success overseas, but the Australian music scene is so much bigger; there are many world class artist the rest of the world has never seen, or heard. One such artist to start you education on Australian music is John Farnham, locally known as The Voice; a great place to start would be his version of The Beatles classic song Help, live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Since you are into the music of that era, you should try getting a ticket for and of course listening to the Who! They will be in Berlin in three weeks from now at Waldbühne and it is probably gonna be the last time to see them on tour. They have been huge in the 70s and 80s and probably on par with the Stones at that time. Try listening to "who are you", which you probably already know, "pinball wizard" and "Baba O'Riley" .
