Don't let the "haters" influence your enjoyment. Much of that attitude comes from the "anti-disco" blowback reaction. The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack dominated the airwaves. The BeeGees had multiple songs from it on the charts. Long story but they caught the blowback from the period. I am glad those songs can just be enjoyed and appreciated again without that prejudice. They had number one songs in the Sixties, as well, and since too, I believe. The BeeGees have charted for (five?) decades. And written hit songs for other artists.

As a lifelong Bee Gees fan in my early fifties I'm glad to see people like yourself from a younger generation appreciate the genius of the Bee Gees! You're right some people just don't get it and that happened even in the 70's. Hard rock fans were always bashing the Bee Gees because their record sales outsold the popular rock bands. Here are a few fun facts about the Bee Gees: 1) Originally From England their family moved to Australia where their father had better job prospects. 2) The brothers sang together all of their lives and the group never broke up unlike most bands. 3) They wrote their own music and every song they sang they wrote. They also wrote songs for other artists that became hit songs . 4) They wrote a few country songs for other artists like Kenny Rogers. 5) They're one of the least imitated groups as few people can achieve the range and harmony level that they effortlessly did! 6) They had hit songs in the 1960's like "I started a joke," "Going Back to Massachusetts" and "Mend a Broken Heart" before most Americans knew who they were. 7) They incorporate their noses in their singing especially in the higher ranges. 8) They loved their fans and their fans still love them!

Can you not see now, why this type of music should ENDURE, FOREVER?! I'm overjoyed that you can connect with this type of music as you can, and how can anyone not, if they have any level of taste, at all. Right? Never, ever, apologize to anyone for that, and never think you're full of anything for daring to be different. And God Man, that MESSAGE! Their signature overall sound. This song was released in 1979. Natural harmonizing between the 3 Brothers. Robin, Barry & Maurice Gibb. 1 take, in recording studio. No autotune, no tricks. Pure natural talent! This was when music was real music & worked hard for. They also had a younger brother (Andy Gibb) who could sing just like them. He went out on his own & did very well, also. These 3 brothers received tons of achievement, accolades, awards, #1 hits, etc. The most recognized song by younger listeners is "Stayin' Alive," used in the movie "Saturday Night Fever," starring a young John Travolta. But, they have recorded tons of music. All have passed away except Barry.

BeeGees were great. They started singing in perfect harmony as kids the older brother who is the falsetto in this clip said. Their mom heard them singing in their bedroom and she thought it was the radio and told them to turn it down. LOL Can you imagine that?

When Barry sings with his soft falsetto vocals, it reminds me of The Stylistics, a group you should definitely check out. Another great Bee Gees song similar to this one, is called "Emotion", also worth checking out.

People who don’t like them, don’t like DISCO. They are SO MUCH MORE. Sadly, they became the face of Disco. They made music before and after.

The Bee Gees were magic.I feel so lucky and blessed to have grown up during the time this music was written and performed. You should listen to Air Supply sing Lost In Love.

They are the best harmonizing soulful group ever. Their falsettos are unlike any other group in history. They were pure singers. No auto tune, no deceptions just pure talent. Bee Gees forever!!!

There are people still stuck in that I hate disco phase of the late 70's. All they want is hard rock. Don't get me wrong, I love bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, AC DC, Rush and many others, but bands like the Bee Gees, Abba, Carpenters, Earth, Wind & Fire and others are great too.

I love LOVE all of them. The carpenters and beegees are the best from the era, they were family bands so nothing but drugs and eating disorders could take them down. ABBA 2 beautiful swiss women and ex husbands that didn't deserve them. ABBA was disco they didn't want to do anything if they couldn't do that, they were faithful to it I love ABBA so much.

AND: New York Mining Disaster - which some Americans don't realize is not about New York, USA -- but instead inspired by a Welsh mine cave-in 1966 - Also: "I started a Joke" - featuring Robin's beautiful, soft voice...

Bee Gees back in the day were loved by Black folk. We was jammin' to Stayin Alive in our clubs same as white folk was in their clubs. Didn't make no diddly squat what color they was. We were feelin 'em.
