Beef stew
for 4 people
Ingrediants
Celery carrots onion
a kilo of beef
half a liter of red wine
salt and pepper
laurel cloves
sage and rosemary
Optional tomato
Polenta (250 gr for 1 liter of water)
Beef stew for 4 people
Coarsely cut 2 carrots 2 celery and 1 onion.
Put a little oil and the vegetables in a heavy saucepan, cook for 10 minutes.
Add a pound of beef cut into large chunks.
Cook with the vegetables for 10 minutes.
Cover with red wine (or beer) salt pepper bay leaf sage rosemary.
Cook for 60 minutes on low heat with the lid on.
If you like, you can add some tomato sauce.
Cook another 60 minutes on low heat without a lid.
Prepare the polenta an hour in advance because it takes a long time to cook if you use wholemeal polenta.
Boil a liter of water, when it boils add the polenta stirring constantly, LOWER THE FIRE, stir for another minute with the wooden spoon, put the lid on and forget about the polenta, but remember that the fire must be really low,
serve hot
