I was working construction in a large building that was about half way done , I was sitting there having a smoke and I looked at the ground and saw a bee laying there, not dead, somehow I thought, it is probably lost and ran out of energy trying to find it's way out. I saw a mostly empty bottle of pop laying beside me so I poured a tiny little puddle of it close to the bee, hoping it would smell the sugar and have some. The next day I went to the same spot and the bee was gone, I like to think it ate up the sugar and had new found energy and left! :)

Beekeeping is actually part of my culture. My grandpa was a beekeeper pretty much all his life and to this day. I remember him telling us lots of interesting bee stories, bee facts, and his own observations. We loved it as kids. And now his son- my uncle, my dad, and my husband- also picked up this trade. Great! My grandpa was a beekeeper too. My brother and I would always help out in the summer, mainly during honey harvest but we got to see what’s going on in the colonies throughout the year. Grandpa was a self-taught beekeeper, with immense knowledge and respect in the community. Unfortunately after he passed away we weren’t able to continue with this passion.
