This video was amazing as was the young lady Natali, what a wonderful outlook for her, still at school and with a very good idea of what she likes to do professionally. I certainly wish her well. Fifty hives with an ambition to go to one hundred, sheesh, that’s a way to go. Kudos to you Natali. This young lady seems to have her head screwed on right and seems to know what she wants. Thanks for the interview and good luck to you Natali and I hope you appreciate how supportive your parents are, many youngsters don’t have that luxury. Stay safe and above all else, be happy.

Now nearly, 35 Years later, I have got back into Bees ! The Knowlege is in my 'Nogging' somewhere ! 😉 I love working the Hives again... And somewhere, I still have those lovely Typed Letters with a Fountain Pen (Ink) Signatures, he sent me. I tell my students to watch your videos to get another opinion on how to do things a different way as well. Talking about how complex bees are... Our family has been keeping bees for over 100 years... We started in Lebanon in 1920.. The biggest mistake beekeepers make is to predict the behaviour of bees. Bees can outsmart the beekeeper anytime... Just when you think they are most predictable, they can be most unpredictable.

Hey Bob as usual great video! From what I have been told lower grades of wax and waxes with a low melting point will bead out of the wax dipped boxes. Also, boxes dipped with primarily paraffin have a hard time staying in the wood due to being straight chained on the atomic scale unlike the multi-chained micro crystalline which bonds to the wood much better. We use a 50-50 blend and our melting point is near 160-170 degrees. Time will tell if this will hold out for decades like we hope. So far so good!

Love your videos. I have a question thou. Is there anyway you can give the bees a certain amount if brood at a certain time in spring to hopefully keep them from swarming and to have them peak out during the main honey flow. I have heard you kinda talk about it in earlier videos but never heard when and the exact numbers.
@bobbinnie9872
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter. Exact numbers of bees and brood necessary are hard to predict if you split early because weather patterns and conditions can change. It's ideal to begin equalizing or splitting to reduce brood in colonies that are too large at least a couple of weeks before they start preparations to swarm. At that time six to eight frames of brood would probably work. Knowing what to do comes with experience.
