My 3rd great grandfather, Andrew Catozzi was an Italian immigrant to Vermont from the city of Carrara. He was also a marble cutter by trade and a renowned tubist in Rutland, Vermont in the late 19th and early 20th century.

I'm a low brass lesson teacher in the Houston area surfing KZitem looking for new solos to potentially give my kids at some point or another. Funnily enough I'm also a former student of Larry Campbell, and once solo'd with the Blinn Band and JuCo All-State as well. The quality on this is kind of funny. I'm guessing this would've been sometime in the late 80s, yet I'd swear this was recorded on an Edison cylinder during the early years of the CD, lol. Captures the era of the original work I suppose 😎.

Recorded in the late 80s and recently digitized from an LP. Sounded better through a big home stereo system (or so we thought).

The cough in the back in the beginning😂 I like the solo though I wish I could play as a euphonium

You can definitely play it on euphonium. Just play it an octave higher than written, although it would be pretty easy as written.. 👍🏼 On tuba, it’s a bit more challenging. But certainly it’s a fun challenge.

Cousidering playing this where did you get the tuba and band version?

I believe the band parts were a rental, but I’m not sure, as this was almost 40 years ago. The solo and piano accompaniment are available on the internet.

I was thinking there may have been some sort of "Queen" connection!

A very poor recording. I could rarely hear the soloist, though the band came through fine.

Unfortunately, it’s not the best quality. It was recorded live in 1987 on inexpensive equipment. Not anything like we have today.
