Very good work there! To think that Beethoven was completely deaf when he wrote & conducted his final 9th symphony & it was said at the conclusion of the work that he couldn't hear the applause by the audience & had to be turned around by one of the vocalists but there was no doubt Beethoven had produced a masterpiece in his final 'Choral' symphony. Interestingly Beethoven's Violin Concerto begins with 5 taps on the timpani.

The timbales from afro-cuban music have their root in the timpani. This video, your technique, the grip and placement of fulcrum, the expressive strokes, and dampening. The technique of timbaleros (those in the 40s, 50s, and 60s) is very similar. The whole time, all I could think was, "This is a really solo timbal solo!" Thanks for the video

Mr Kwak- Very enjoyable to watch your piece of the transcript for the Mount Everest of music, Beethoven's Ninth. Only one suggestion sir; You might want to rethink your microphone placement against the Timpani's. The reverb causes your notes to fall flat due to microsecond bouncing.
