Michael Keaton literally just turned 73 and he hasn’t lost any of that manic Beetlejuice energy he had 36 years ago. THIS is how a legacy sequel should be done!

If you look really close in the intro, it shows Adam and Barbra as miniature people and they are in the river. The music will do a highlighted part once it shows them while lightning flashes on them.

I really liked the movie and had a lot of fun watching it in theaters, but you're right, there was just way too much crammed in. The Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe characters didn't feel necessary to the overall plot. Their story lines would drop off and I would honestly forget all about them. I also felt like the brief shout out to the Maitlands fell flat. They played a huge part in the first movie and they were a great influence on Lydia. I'm fine with them not appearing in the sequel, but I feel like their reference should have had a bit more meaning. Like when Lydia and Astrid were in the Attic. I wish Astrid had found Lydia's original photo of the Maitlands wearing Delia's sheets. Astrid could mock the photo, Lydia could defend them as her friends and surrogate parents before revealing she found a loop hole so they could pass on and that she missed them, and THEN discover the Beetlegeuse flyer as scripted.

I saw it earlier today and really enjoyed it too. The main thing I was a little iffy on was a plot point, but ended up having a genuinely good twist with it, so after that didn't mind a respected a movie that could actually do plot twists well. I also wished an early cameo had a longer role in the film.

I have to agree. Went with a group and we all found it pretty bad, And we all love the first beetlejuice. Keatons pretty good when on screen but there really are some odd scene choices and the first 40 minutes kinda drags with story coincidences that the writers thought lets throw this in half way though, that`ll work And two really odd endings and thats saying something seeing the is the world of Beetlejuice. It plays out abit like Ghostbusters Frozen Empire. Lets use every idea we have with very little pay off. a real shame.

Sooo let's talk about how they never talked about how Beetlejuice got his name or how he got the iconic suit. I also wish they would have expounded upon the situation with Beetlejuice and his wife. They never really had a dialogue between the two characters
@LordLemmysLabs
6 күн бұрын
Well his name is technically actually Betelgeuse, and based on the fact his ex wife referred to him by that name immediately after being freed from having been locked away since her death, that seems to just be his name since he was alive. And really, I don't think the suit needs an explanation.

I thought the first film had the best supporting comedy with the football players along with the case worker juno. Even though the interaction was very brief. They also appeared at the very end when lydia was dancing. They suddenly appeared for some reason behind her as a harry belafonte song was playing. Unless the football players got to know adam and barbara while in that same office, I don't know why they appeared again. I can only assume that tim burton liked the high school or possibly college football players, along with the comedy interaction with juno, and just decided to place them again in the end scene of the film. With this new film sequel, they instead chose the safari guy with the shrunken head as the main supporting character, who returned from the original film. I have nothing against that, as people who watched the original probably don't remember the scene with the players interacting with juno very well. It is possible of course that I am the only one who thought they stood out. They were originally portrayed as being your stereotypical ignorant sports players. If they had brought them back, I guess they would have to make them a bit more knowledgeable, as it would not make sense to make them still ignorant or ask silly questions around wherever they are. I also noticed that except for the beginning in the original film, where lydia was seen interacting with her fellow private school female students as she got on her bicycle, she is mostly seen with adults after that. With her dance at the end with the players, they were at least around the same age or not far from her own age.

I thought it was awesome it was more over the top and comedic but it fit what they were going for. The first film had the milk toast couple to ground the story the sequel is primarily focused on Lydia family and Beetlejuice so it's inherently going to be more comedic I think. The movie could have been streamlined but when it comes to comedies entertainment value matters more to me then plot. The more fun you have with comedy is the more you will overlook certain plot elements. I honestly didn't much care that the milk toast couple from part 1 wasn't in this because I don't think there was any place for them and there story was finished in part 1. I felt yes the film could have been streamlined Beetlejuice x wife could have been removed but the movie was fun and Beetlejuice and Burtons imagination carried the film. I have never felt Burton films for the most part had great deep stories I think most of his stuff is carried by his imagination. I think the only 2 differences with this one opposed to part 1 was the first was grounded by the average couple and was more streamlined. With how well this flick is apparently doing im not sure WB will want to stop at just a Beetlejuice 2 I can definitely see them trying to get Burton to do one more for a trilogy. If we get a part 3 I think it would be interesting if Beetlejuice actually did finally marry Lydia and we saw how that effects him. Like what does that mean for Beetlejuice being free now and what does he want to do with his freedom. The other thing for me would be bringing in Lydia's biological mother.

@@chrisjherman Bingo. Plus, whenever Keaton was not on the screen, I was losing interest in the movie. Although, the plot line involving the ghost who killed his parents was interesting. Unfortunately, the movie hastily wrapped up that plot line-when it should’ve been the central story! Finally, watching Winona Ryder act in this stage of her life and career was just awkward, for me. There’s something awkward about her-I’m not sure what it is.
