Beetronics FX how come there are no demos of the overhive driving a high gain amp? The body and tight switch's make this pedal ideal for driving high gain amps. You tend to lose low end in a high gain amp when boosting.. we need that demo..

Excellent video ! I am looking at their Octahive and while listening to that heard a lot of their Overhive which also sounds great. Don't really want to get a sixth overdrive... but damn this one sounds really good in every demo I watched. Nailing your OD is pretty key. Anyways, this is really a good video and thank you VERY much ! TW

Shawn I don't know how I missed this pedal demo from you but buddy you rocked it "Like A Hurricane"! This is a very well voiced medium gain overdrive pedal that really doesn't mess up the great base tone of your amp! Shawn I have a Tyler Amps JT46 1x12 combo based very closely off the classic Marshall JTM45 circuit and I had decided that I wanted a Klon klone pedal to push it with to go from a clean tone or a low-medium gain crunch tone which the JTM45 circuit really excels at to a thicker,tighter crunch and overdrive! The mid-range bump that you get from the Klon Klone pedals does a great job of pushing the amp into a very musical Marshall crunch! My favorite klon klone pedal out of all of them is the RYRA Klone pedal! I'm not sure if you have tried this pedal or not but I'm wondering how well this Beetronics Overhive pedal would match up with a JTM45 style amp? What's do you think? Hope all is well for you and your family! Here's wishing you a safe and "Happy Thanksgiving"! Mac Baker

I would think it would be good but the feel of the Overhive pedal is a bit compressed. RYRA makes good stuff but I'm still a fan of the JRAD Archer Pedal as far as Klon clones go. Happy Thanksgiving Mac!

@@ShawnTubbs Shawn sorry I'm just getting back to you buddy! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my post about the Overhive pedal and how it might stack up against a Klon klone pedal! I did notice that the Overhive does sound somewhat compressed which isn't a terrible thing by any account! But the beauty of a klon klone pedal is the thick midrange bump that you get but without it being compressed! I'm going to go back and listen to the JRAD Archer pedal and see how it stacks up against the RYRA Klone pedal! The Beetronics Overhive does seem to keep the tone of your amp intact which is something that I really like in an overdrive pedal! Best Regards, Mac

Wow that thing sounds enormous and warm. I can't tell if that's the way the pedal sounds or if it's because of your rig. On that subject Shawn, what would you recommend for someone going for a Cream era Clapton sound? I've been looking at the MXR Fet Driver but this also sounds like it could get within that ballpark.
@ShawnTubbs
7 жыл бұрын
I think EC was using a Marshall JTM 45 or Bluebreaker in that era with a fuzz type pedal. I like the Overhive because it has a bit of that fuzz type character. I'm not familiar with the MXR Fet.

Great demo! I love this pedal. On another topic. I see you have your Lollars set very low on the Strat. I have a black Strat as well and just bought some Lollar Blackface and am having some trouble dialing them in. Yours look just a touch above the pickguard..is that right? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
@ShawnTubbs
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much, Peter! Yes, dialing in single-coil pickup heights can be a booger. My Lollars are the Dirty Blonde set so they are maybe just a bit lower in output in the neck and middle position and about the same in the bridge as the Blackface set. I also prefer the flat-pole set because they're just easier to work with to my ears, especially when it comes to height adjustments. Regardless of the poles or output, getting the height adjustment is something I do strictly by ear. I try not to focus on how it looks so much. One thing I will suggest is to make an adjustment and then put the guitar down for an hour or so and then check it out with fresh ears. If you still need to adjust up or down make very minor tweaks.
