This album wouldn't have been the evil bluesy metal it is without your playing. So much soul and feeling between your playing and Ronnie's vocals. They played off each other so masterfully that I haven't heard anything come close to it since.

Hard disagree, most iconic is Holy Diver, probably his best album too. It is however one of his best tracks with "Dreamer", I just love the stop - start dynamics. But that's OK, music is subjective.

It was such a good show and tell. First of all, you are an amazing guitarist, whatever path was chosed. But I'll have to go with Ron on this one. That solo you crafted on this track and apparently then altered is spectacular and so fitting for its environment. And to this day, for me, one of the places you always can come if you wanna hear guitar soloing done right, is this record. Because all your work was so freaking wild but inspiring. It always struckted me. You were so young but played and sounded like a "grown man". A feature I still hear to this day. One of my favorite albums of all time...mostly thanks to you.

For not-so-obvious reasons other than Alice in Chains and Sound Garden, this was the last DIO album I gave a chance, and I'm forever indebted to my late older brother who turned me on to it. I was twenty-one years old in 1992 and this album was very memorable for its vocals and screaming guitar whales and pinch harmonics that made Zack Wylde sound pedestrian and lightning-fast guitar scales that made Malmsteen sound like a first-year guitar student. Yes, my brother or I bought this CD, and even Black Sabbath Dehumanizer when it came out.

you have magic in your fingers Rowan, simple sweet and gripping 🙏. Thanks for hosting a youtube channel and creating these gems Just Love It. If you could please answer a question ’How do you craft your solos?’ What runs in your head when you write these amazing solos? 1. Do you have a backing chords first? 2. Do you target certain notes during chord changes ? 3. How do you fit in arpeggios and licks inside a chord beat ? Not sure if you will have the time to answer the question but I hope you could and enlighten a lot of us 🙏 Thanks and Warm Regards,

Hey Rowan. Ours dad's were friends along time ago and we were at your dad's house in Cambridge when he broke out a guitar you sent back home from the states. I think it was a yellow ibanez and Marshall! He left me rocking out with it. I will never forget it. Inspired me to learn your riff on wild one. Don't think I ever managed to get it completely right lol.

Guitarists often thinks that hundred notes per second is the greatest thing but I must agree with RJDio who wasn't impressed. Album solo version is amazing, "that it is"- thing! In my opinion LUTW is last album of the GREATEST DIO works. And Rowan Robertson is the part of DIO most successful history.

never heard the song or solo b4 now. The first version is, imo, really nice because of the SPACES. Those empty parts just beg the ear to be patient and listen closely. The growly effects are really great too because you don't quite know how they are made. Solo 2? boombox... sounds like any 70s long jam with almost nothing to remember from it. Just my 2 cents. version 1 is a winner. But what do I know?

@@RRGuitarChannel Oh, I just fling my thoughts out randomly and I try not to sound mean or anything. I know nothing about you except that you played with Dio when you were like.. 17 and 18 and that's it. I never followed Dio after his 2nd solo album either so I am clueless about lots of his stuff and I never really listened to the stuff you played on either so don't mind me, I just commented on that first solo mostly because I thought it was very interesting and unusual for the spaces it left. I tend to never leave any space during a solo and I feel it is a bad habit I somehow acquired somewhere. I don't know. So, I thought leaving those empty spots was a bold move and made it more interesting. Thanks for your reply!!! I saw your tee shirt and thought hey, Rowan Robertson. he has his own shirt. hahah

Id have to listen again to b for sure but theres a run that just dont fit. But other than that they both are killer solos and i loike them both either way. Better.. way better than i can play! Lol

Hi Rowan, personally LUTW demo is ten times better than the album, agree though the album version is superb too,Probably Ronnie again not wanting the shred whereas that’s what’s in metal music. From what I’ve heard from various musicians who has played with Ronnie basically saying it’s his way or no way like a drama queen and again during holy diver arguments with Vivian Campbell was again Ronnie Ronnie Ronnie. Singers tend to be the girls in metal 😂and throw their toys out the pram if it’s not to their liking. Yes you wouldn’t be here without DIO l get that but again whoever Ronnie had in his band had to do as he says, even Tracy G has mentioned along those lines etc. you Rowan and Viv and Tracy G Craig Goldy all made Ronnie same in sabbath was Iommi or Blackmore. All boils again to singers inputs. The greatest thing is Rowan joining Dio made you now and that’s superb in every way you look at it. Now Lock up your wolves album superb equally as good as holy diver or any other, just a shame but again Ronnie just upping and leaving to join Sabbath proves my point, he went to lommi because his name will get even bigger than his ego. God rest his soul great vocalist but jeez such a moaner though and he new it too but loved his centre of attention situations. Rowan you built your own style we all love and good for you bro keep rocking these videos, your a lot more interesting to listen to than MAB and Gus G etc. You have this unique British tone l love 🎶🎸🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🙏🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶

Rowan, I recall when Lock Up the Wolves album came, and bought the cassette and listened to and played the song on my drums( Ludwig Double Bass). This album was put together with the best of best musicians. Among these great songs, one of my favorite was, " Wild One " and recall how you ripped that guitar solo. I have been listening to music since I can recall and wanting to start a band since I was 10- 11 years old. And start playing drums when I was 13 years, but before my parents bought me a used orange 4 piece Ludwig set. My mom bought me my 1st pair of drum sticks when I was around 9 years old. And it's was the greatest present ever given to me. And lastly, I got sober from alcoholism in 1991, and and continue playing with sober musicians on Chicago. And became a addictions Masters level therapist in 1993. What inspired me to become a therapist was Mr. Ronnie James Dio, "Hear In Aid" album; the greatest talent that participated in making that album. And recalling Me. Dio I sharing his purpose in making Hear in Aid, album. Just wanting to help those less fortunate. And that why I chose to become a therapist to help those experiencing addiction, alcoholism, homeless, and mental health. And still working as a therapist. The only dream I have is to play with some of the best musicians out there. Well, Rowan, thank you for the great music you have provided.
