I´ve had my Maybach Lester Black Velvet 57 for a bit more than a year now and I couldn´t be more happy with it. It´s just a great high quality instrument from a small company that puts the utmost care into every guitar that leaves their workshop. The Lester-models for example are built to have a maximum weight of 3,9 or 4kg (not sure about the exact number, but I think 4kg is the heaviest). They handpick the wood for the bodies and if a piece of wood weighs too much, some chambering will be done on the guitar. If the wood is light enough they won´t do any chambering. The "Spirit of 59" Humbuckers by Amber are made in Germany, handwound and specifically made for Maybach guitars. Basically every guitar is unique and if you have the chance to try out some Maybachs in a musicstore, I highly recommend doing so. You might be surprised by this German/czech underdog ;)

@@guitarflyer172 While that's true, the Mayback is very clearly "inspired" by an LPC and someone who is going to buy to play isn't going to care about resell value. Collectors/resellers aren't going to be interested in this solely due to the fact that it's not a Gibson which I think everyone here can agree on. Basically if you're an avid player or you already have a LPC and don't wanna gig with it, this would be the next best choice if you didn't want to aesthetically change too much.

I have a Gibson LP Special and a Collings 290 DC S, but I don't have a Strat or a Custom or Standard. I really dig those fret ends though, but I'll bet replacing them would be a pain if possible at all. And considering how much I would play it, it might happen once or twice. As for the actual feel of a Les Paul, yes Gibson is beast at their own guitar. However, to claim all aspects are nailed by Gibson, I do not concur. Just about every maker has done the Les Paul better, as for fit, finish, sound, tooling equivalent is way higher on aftermarket than Epiphone, and the quality control is abysmal with Gibson(has been for several decades now). I'm sorry, but its just a name now, because everyone is fixing the flaws except they themselves at Gibson. These copies do not feel like a real Les Paul, because they've surpassed it.
