This method worked for the workshop I have given to elementry school students. So this video is really meant for beginners. This is also, the last how to draw manga face in front view video becasue I have so many now! The next set of tutorials will be what you have requested in the previous video and will be way more advanced. I understand that it won't satisfy everyone, but the coming videos will hopefully do. Thank you :)

You can't draw a perfectly straight line anymore than you can draw a perfect circle. Drawing Manga is not an overnight process. It's hard and it requires a lot of practice regardless of how many tutorials you read / watch. But here's a good tip. Buy yourself some circle stencils and a ruler. Draw the circles and lines and just go over them. The key thing to do here is to improve your drawing dexterity, once you have that up to speed you'll be good to go.

Tip for semmetrical eyes: if you are right handed, draw the left eye first cuz if you draw the right eye, and then move on to the left eye, you are covering that eye, so it would be harder to make them look the same. And if you are left handed, draw the right eye first.

Same for me, I never used guidelines I just practiced and .. well you can tell by yourself when the face proportions look weird
@16JPE
6 жыл бұрын
hmm, yeah I see what you mean, but they are only a restriction for me because, they get in the way of the picture, and I sometimes drew in the guidelines, so I tried to practice so that I could draw without them...and here we are.

Looks nice, but even with the guidelines, this face "leans". The eyes aren't symmetrical and neither is the jaw. It still looks pleasing to the eye, and no ones faces are 100% symmetrical anyway, but in a tutorial like this I feel like you could've tried and make it as symmetrical as possible to show techniques for that. I know I struggled with symmetry as a beginner.

I do not know about the others but I personally love to use the compass to place my heads in the drawing before starting. I get a sense of evolution in the drawing as most of the time I move shapes one way or the other and I get what I want from the drawing in the end xD

Here are some tips for people who can’t print it: 1. Get a large mug. 2. Put the mug in about the center of the paper. 3. Trace the bottom of the mug for the circle. (Not hardly) 4. Check if its centered, if not try again. If so trace it hardly, 5, draw the lines. 6. Boom. Get another sheet of paper and magic.

Lol I though this meant not using any guidelines at all rather than have someone else provide them for you. Of course the only way to draw accurately without guidelines at all is to have internalized the proportions of the guidelines and trained you eye enough so that you can remember and visualize them on the page without needing to make extra marks. :)
