Thanks for the guide! Some thoughts: 1. That loss of skills upon dying is *WAY* worse than you might think. There is a 50% chance of losing a skill level FOR EVERY SINGLE SKILL--SEPARATELY!--which was confirmed by SubQuake, himself. Oof. 2. The most important place to put initial points is into perk *categories* as upgrading them increases the speed at which your skills level up, and you want to start that happening as early as possible. 3. To move quickly bulk-move supplies, dump them into a chest by the road, hop on your bike, then fill your inventory to the limit of the *bike's* capacity. At the other end, dump everything into another chest before you get off of the bike. (If you build your crafting area on the second floor/etc., you can place the storage chests in the floor so you can access them from the ground. You can then deposit everything where it needs to go without needing to get off of your bike.) 4. Quickly stabbing a zombie with any type of knife before switching to your main weapon will help by starting them bleeding out, increasing your DPS. 5. Both you and zombies can hop up on the low side of dumpster, but *NOT* the high side. If you jump up onto the low side then quickly move to the high side, they won't try to hop up with you, instead coming around to your side where they will attack the dumpster instead of you. (Credit to Tony Pandemony, who showed this trick in his *WILD* 25% run.) 6. A simple two-high concrete wall and chest-high pipe fences(?) will let you deal with hordes until at least day 49 if you have the skills. Again, check out TP's 25% run to see how. 7. Picking up appliances/etc. and then setting them down in doorways is an easy way to create a chokepoint if you get rushed by a horde while in a POI. 8. As you probably won't be building a base from scratch, setting block damage for both you and zombies to 25% is a perfectly reasonable way to keep things both sensible and challenging. 9. Different containers--like cardboard boxes--have different capacities. Standardize on the largest ones you can find, which is 6x6, IIRC. 10. Keep your storage as far from where zombies might attack as possible. Tem, late in his Rebirth run, lost almost *ALL* of his supplies from cop spit/etc., because his storage wasn't protected enough. Heck, you can keep them behind hatches, etc., if necessary. Cheers!

Just two small notes to an otherwise great guide :) There's also another optional quest line (appearing in inventory as a quest paper to start it) to guide you through the mod and workstations. Also there are two 'S' levels - S* and the final S***. It was shown, just not said :)

@@azirus I am considering doing a video on the elevator, however, with Alpha 21 looming, possibly not. I was playing another mod, and thought I would do a quick, not very in depth feature guide on it. It is called Winterween. Not a major overhaul, but certainly is quite different and interesting. Not my cup of tea in general, but I do see how some may find the appeal. Other than that I will be dropping vids on the massive updates coming to UL 2.7, so there are those. If Alpha 21 has not arrived, then I will likely also start preparing for a new Darkness Falls video. I need to do a recap and new updated "What Is" for that. I find my first video I ever did quite cringy, so I would like to do an updated version of that. Then as far as major in depth mods are concerned, the next big one is very likely Sorcery.

I am wondering if SQ will be using the new Magazines that the vanilla game is deploying, and using them for discovering and learning research. I have not played it yet... however, I would say it has a higher difficulty and would be closer to Darkness Falls. I don't believe the monsters are as difficulty, but you will face a challenge and the variety is pretty awesome. Your tips about weight management are absolutely invaluable and I urge anyone turned off by the weight system (Like i was when i first played it along time ago) to pay very close attention. Im focusing on my strength skills first, like clubs, gathering and weight lifting. i am on day 4 and i have been taking snows weight lifting tips to heart and at night, i stealth around the base while carrying heavy things and its a very good way to work on your muscles!. I also have a new appreciation for the pack mule perks, i just took 3 levels in it and the extra 60lbs of weight capacity feels like i can carry an entire working stiffs store now lol. Buying research notes from the traders is a bad deal most of the time. Every recipe gives you 50 research, so, very often, it's cheaper to buy a recipe for something you don't need and scrapping it rather than buying data outright. I've also come up with an easy strategy for mid-game trading. I make tons of farm plots. Once you have super corn, make as many seeds as you can. Set up a 200 plot farm next to every trader, just for super corn. It's not the best overall item for selling- making pumpkin bread, for instance, will make more money, but if you have a 200 farm plot at each merchant you can harvest when you arrive. If you have the Living Off the Land perk maximized that will give you 6 stacks of super corn. That will let you sell the maximum amount per day to any trader you show up at, without needing any crafting, and without having to haul around anything once you have them set up (and the lag shouldn't be too bad, since most of the time they aren't spawned in). Even without all the buffs a stack of super corn will get you about a thousand dukes, so $6k dukes per stop. Considering how much work it takes, it's not really a hack, but is a workable strategy to supplement your income... enough money to buy most of the books you see that you need as you go on. This is only a good strategy on a server if all the players are cooperating. On a PvP server, obviously, people would either destroy it on you, or try to get to the crops before you do. I've found that with resource gathering devices (oil well, resource extractor, well, pump) that a couple at your home base will generally be more useful than a bunch farther away (which you might do to keep from preventing lag). Unless you are religious about going over to collect things, a remote station, even if it has more resource machines, will produce less for you than one at base, just because you'll be able to check the one at your base more often. (I'd kind of like to see the resource extractors to be upgradable so they'd create less lag, and maybe to run longer before they give you stuff, but give you more stuff per use. Remember to take everything out of containers you open if you have loot respawn on... you may not actually want a single hop seed if you already have hops crops growing at base, but if you leave the seed it it seems to treat that container that is being used and doesn't respawn (although this is useful if you have too much good loot to haul back to base.) Get good at killing scorpions. Buy antidotes whenever you see them (they are cheaper from the vending machines than from the vendors) until you can make your own. The poison sacs are crucial for making more antidotes and acid, and you need the acid for all sorts of stuff, including making military fiber, which you need to maintain military armor (the best light armor). Brawling is really OP if you have a good source of honey. You'll get infected a lot, so you need the honey, but if you spec into brawling and carry beer around you'll be a melee monster. I prefer the crossbow for sniping things, and have a shotgun for when that goes badly. I'm a light armor build and when things go badly I try to clear one direction and then slowly retreat, pulling the zombies into a straight line, making them easier to hit with every shot and letting me defend choke points easier. You can even survive horde night outside, running if you have a light armor speed build, although that shouldn't be your first choice (my friend's heavy armor melee build did not fair well when our horde base collapsed!) We have 3 people on our server, and we all have different play styles. I really push farming and trading, my brother just loves randomly exploring, and my friend mostly runs missions for traders.

I love this mod, and highly suggest following the tutorial as well, although I REALLY wish you were shown your your first trader was right away, so you could head that way as you work through the tutorial. The biggest change I needed to make was my mindset, as weight being the issue with carrying things, instead of slots, it took me awhile to realize I could carry a couple of each, of a variety of medical items, without much of a weight penalty at all. I do wish building a bike, mini bike or motorcycle would automatically give you the repair skill for that vehicle. It’s annoying building the first three vehicles, and still needing to spend research points to learn to repair them to repair a car, van or truck.
@SnowBee
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, you are correct, the weight system was a mindset change for me. Years ago I moved away from the mod when I saw it was in. However, it really is not that bad, and I quite enjoy the ability to carry more unique items. I know this is not that much compensation, but you don't have to build a bike, minibike or motorbike to get a car/suv. It is just the maintenance kits you need to learn in order. I got the bike, and then my next vehicle was the suv, so you can go straight to it if you want, just it will likely take a while without a vehicle. It wouldn't be so bad with bicycle if it just had some storage.

Been playing Undead legacy for about a 1000 hours. Undead legacy has crashed 4 times, yes 4 times in those 1000 hours. But all 4 times i was driving in a car or motor bike. and then crash to desktop. If i start the save file. the game crashes again. nothing can be done. I highly recomend you take a backup of your save file, of the game you play. every 2-3 real life days. Only thing i really hate about UL is those deadly scorpions. it has totally ruined the option to start the game in any other Biome then forest. Oh and that you cant make crused sand in the mixer out of stone, completly lame. Good vids man. 5//5

My summary for Undead Legacy: Level of grind: beyond insanity Speed of progression: beyond dead snail Difficulty: beyond idiocy. First night I was swarmed with ferals. Level of complications to make you suffer: beyond extreme. To build a simple block or bow you must GRING and SUFFER. Level of punishment: beyond extreme. You can loose all your progress and skill points due to few deaths then spend DAYS or even WEEKS to regain them. Just try to upgrade any of your workstations to level 2 or try to build them all first at least. It will take you WEEKS of research data grinding or even months. One example: to research artisan station you need 25 bricks. Bricks you can make at Furnace. But firnace you can make ONLY AT ARTIASAN'S STATION!
@SnowBee
Жыл бұрын
Interesting that you would use "extreme". It is grindy, but I wouldn't put it as extreme. I find the longer vanilla type reach of zombies a pain. Also, I don't enjoy the RNG loss of materials during the upgrade process of items, that makes it frustrating to grind for materials and have them lost to RNG. Other than that, I grind is fine as you would have enough components and ingredients without the loss of many during the higher levels of upgrading. I believe SQ is thinking of removing that feature due to it being one of the most complained about. Oh yes, the level of death punishment, I don't like it either, but, as mentioned in the guide, just change it a level lower. So then you won't get that loss of skills. The mod progression speed is supposed to be slower, so, unfortunately it is what it is. I do agree with you, that it is slower, but it is what a lot of players enjoy.
@VYM
Жыл бұрын
@@SnowBee yes, it's literally extreme. As I said just to make one basic building block you need to build carpenter bench first where you'll be able to recycle wood to planks, then you need another workbench to produce nails, then finally you'll be able to bake one basic simple block from planks and nails. This is just one example. Second example. To make a simple stone axe you need 5 stones, 20 branches and 4 ropes. To repair the stone axe you need a primitive repair kit made for the half resources price of the new stone axe. And so on and so on. Not even saying that IMHO all food and other recipes were copy pasted from vanilla and extremely stupid. Huge jar of water cannot give you 20/100 hydration! 1 piece of charred meat cannot not give you 5/100 satiety, grilled meat 10/100 and bacon with eggs 30/100. So I had to modify all recipes and items myself again 😕

So would you recommend this to a player was looking for a overhaul mod with a more vanilla experience? I might look into it when it's updated for A21.
@SnowBee
Жыл бұрын
Well, some players say this is what vanilla should have been. However, as much as I agree that vanilla should play and look better than it does with all the really great interface changes in UL, some features are vastly different. So, it is not just a few changes here and there, it makes 7D2D play very differently to the vanilla version. You may not like some of those changes, where another overhaul mod will also make large changes, but keep certain other mechanics similar or the same as vanilla. So, I would definitely say you should give it a go. It is a vastly superior gameplay than vanilla, but that is my opinion as the gameplay is suitable to what I enjoy or don't mind. See for yourself if the features are more enjoyable for you :)

Sorry, hopefully someone else can help with the mod launcher. I know it is not recommended by the mod dev, but it does work for many. I tend to only use the manual method for all mods. You copy your 7 days to die game folder, and paste it into another location. Then download the mod, and make sure the mod is in a "mods" folder under your pasted 7 days to die game folder. Sometimes the mod itself even comes added to an existing mods folder. Now, from under that newly copied and pasted 7 days to die folder, find the 7DaysToDie.exe file, and run that. Do not run the one that has an EAC in the file name. The mod must be run with EAC off or disabled. You can also look for an UL installation guide on youtube, but don't use a guide telling you how to use the mod launcher, hopefully the manual install will work for you.
