Hi Marcus... I learned how to use an oscilloscope way back in 9th grade high school electronics. Before I started packing to move, I had two in my living room entertainment center. One to check Stereo phase on the local broadcasters. The other, to check burst, VBI, and peak white on the local TV's. As a follow-on to this one, how about a guide to selecting test equipment? There's some good stuff out there. But, there's also overpriced junk. Your mention of the "hobby" side reminded me of something I saw for years at the Dayton Hamvention: "The Poor Man's Spectrum Analyzer"! It used the RF deck of a 300MHz Jerrold CATV converter (IIRC, it was a JSX) and a few added components with your oscilloscope so you could have a "spectrum analyzer". A video on interference tracing would be interesting. Especially since some can be multi-source, and thus regional. As an example, when it was analog on channel 4, WRC-TV in D.C. had electrical hash in its video in much of its primary coverage area. Also, a discussion of serious pirates might be worthwhile. I've encountered a few very serious, definitely "non-hobby" pirates with coverage measured in miles. BTW, in my t-shirt collection is one I wear to hamfests and such. It reads, "If It Ain't Running on 3-Phase 4160 VAC, It's Only QRP"... 73

There’s a whole bunch more to the camera’s left.

For a guy that operates a radio tuner on a daily basis, what you said made perfect sense. Keep up the good work.

Is the TV show you're referring to "The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch"? They've been chasing a 1.6GHz frequency for awhile.

Ha yes! There’s a whole lot wrong with their methodology and understanding of what’s going on already on the spectrum.
