Looks like a pretty decent phase rotation tester, the Fluke rotation tester looks a little more better quality. I have one it’s manufactured by MASTECH I haven’t used it in years it wasn’t the best quality but it did work. I’m looking forward to your comparison between the Fluke and Amprobe Rotation Tester.

Yeah, you are right TETC, the Fluke has a much sturdier build and better quality accessories. But it does cost significantly more and you have to fork out extra for a case. I have a Peakmeter unit as well to throw into the mix, probably very similar to your Mastech unit.

Here is the thing when buying tools I have started to avoid smaller cheaper tools more as a means to save and buy high-end measurement tools. Quality rather quantity. I recently bought the Gossen Mettrawatt Secutest pro safety tester. More as a means to test installation of cheaper electrical equipment (lights in particular which have really issues of safety). The tester however is calibrated to test medical devices where measurement accuracy and precision is critical as well as various touch type currents to meet very strict standards. Really expensive but now I am using it regularly it’s really nice. In the market for a high end motor tester and oscilloscope and power bench meter (Keysight ideally) but I will have save for a while and maybe willing to lose a kidney in the process...As always quality work in reviewing this.

I guess people will have their own preferences and reasons for buying test apparatus. I do tend to like to have backups for some of my instruments in case they are away for calibration or get damaged and I still have work to do. There are also some work environments where I just do not like to take good quality test instrumentation into.
