Strangely enough, "Fraiser" is one of my main comfort shows, especially when I'm stressed. Fraiser and Niles, with their haughty attitude, and yet Martin bringing them back to earth, seems to be the psychiatric therapy I need when stressed, and I realise "my life isn't that crazy really, every one has a parent with whom they may get frustrated at. Everyone has battles." I also have a factor of trying to "reason" or "shrink" to explain what I'm observing, so the intellectual comedy always got me in, but especially when Niles put it back on Frasier and, at least in the early seasons, Roz. The difference being, Roz knew how to give it back and later, it became playful banter between the two. But yeah, I truly feel, for me at least, Frasier is a comfort and that I could feel it when he said "I'm listening." This, of course, being a testament to Kelsey (and indeed David)'s amazing acting talent. So whether I'm happy, there's nothing else or I need some relief, I can 'check in' with my opera-loving psychiatrists, even discussing it over a cup of coffee. I even started adding cinammon as a hint to Niles. 😄

He made $1.6 million an episode at his peak but he wouldn't have made any extra really just for singing that song. He didn't write it and that's where the money is in the royalties. Was at Heathrow airport about 2-3 years ago waiting for my fare, guess who came through the doors “Kelsey Grammer” couldn’t believe it, shook his hand took a selfie, really pleasant guy told him he was a legend. Still smile thinking about meeting Fraser, but chuckle to myself I met “side show Bob” 😂

It’s funny to me how many UKers are on here. I watched the show originally in high school, didn’t really get it. Watched it again five years later and thought it was brilliant. It’s definitely very British humor.

I think you're right Jennifer Gersch, I have many friends who still love it for the nostalgia, effortlessly funny delivery & clever writing. After Cheers I couldn't get into it first time around, tried again & was hooked for life😂 You & yours stay well & have a happy day.

All inspired casting, love Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin. Best scene wih Niles is when he walks through the front door of the apartment and tells Daphne he's had a terrible day. Daphne says 'Wine, Dr Crane?' and Niles says 'Well wouldn't you?'

I meant to say one of the neatest side steps are the "callers". The first time I started recognizing their voices. I was just as interested in that as the rest of the show.

I was a fan from day one! I still love the show! I loved how they explained how Frasier's Dad was alive, and had a Brother all along. Just brilliant! And I loved how the brothers were not opposites! But were so much alike! It was just hilarious! Fastidious Niles wiping the chair was just awesome! It really nailed the character! In a later episode, he calls the restaurant, and asks them to come over and wipe it down for him!!! I lose it every time I see that episode!

Did anyone notice that David Angell's name wasn't in the closing credits? Such a sad, unfortunate story. But yes, fantastic show. I'm watching the entire series again for at least the 5th time since 2010. If not for Seinfeld, this would have been the biggest show of the 90's.

I think what helped was that Kelsey was also an executive producer and he had say in alot of what went on and probably educated new writers and directors of how the show ran and kept that consistency going.

Vera did appear once, in It's A Wonderful Wife, 9x20. We never saw her face. She got a job at the place above Cheers, but she got fired. She was out on the steps crying and Norm actually went out to comfort her and then confronted her boss. The actress's name was Bernadette Birkett.

The show has served as a soothing mechanism in our family, all 5 of us go to bed listening to it on our phones to fall asleep. It’s never too serious, always a comfort. Just imagine how the Crane boys would interpret that!

The greatest comedy American television has ever created. Used to think it was MASH, but then realized that MASH was one of the best dramas of American television that also happened to have some great comedy in it. As comedy, Frasier may never be surpassed. Rewatched it about 10 years ago, and was struck again by the brilliant wit of the writers. It still pleases me that we could create an comedy in the States with a level of wit that the British could appreciate and enjoy. There is one more reason that Frasier has been such an enduring, and enduring success. Have never seen it mentioned in any reviews. No matter how pompous he got, and no matter how much he complained about it, when the rubber met the road, Frasier almost always did the right thing. No matter what it cost him. Probably the one thing he got from Martin.

What's so great about Kelsey Grammar is that he is the complete opposite of the character he plays. He married a Vegas stripper! Some really classic lines from that show.
