You just never fail to amaze me in the most positive way, Lindsay! So easy to follow how you think and how you approach it. Pretty clear you have the entire vision of what you want achieve, and then you nail it. Minxie is also a work of art, and lends herself extremely well to how you light up people to bring out all those extra dimensions and subtleties. Chef's kiss to you both for what you created here! 🤌

Truly a wonderful outcome. However, to achieve this, it requires everything that Lindsay possesses: passion, knowledge, technique, experience, and equipment. Additionally, I believe I must highlight the work of a tremendous artist, Lindsay, who first takes the effort to create the final result in her mind and then achieves three-dimensionality in a two-dimensional medium. The use of light and shadow, combined with the colors and filters used, truly achieves the photographer's desired goal. Wonderful work in painting with light and playing with shapes and lines to obtain this great result. Thank you very much for sharing your work and taking us on the journey of its creation. There aren't many photographers like her left.

Not as glamorous as Minxie, but I just shot a puppeteer and his puppets, using red curtains as stage curtains, as well. Had to use a 10-degree and 30-degree grids to create the effect of a spot shining them, though. Gonna have get an optical spot at some point. Need to try this set up when I do.

these images & set turned out beautiful!! 😍 just out of curiosity, about what size working space was that set up?? i know your studio is fairly large or appears to be, high ceilings being a blessing as well 🙌🏼👌🏼 but i would really love to know the approx distance your lights optical snoot, the fill and you were at to have this all come together - if you don’t mind sharing 🙏🏼 😀

First thing, forgot that the curtains were blue in that scene. Need to rewatch the film again. I would have bet my life on them being red originally. And that haze machine is really handy. Had no idea it existed because a lot of times one uses a fog machine that you later have to fan out a bit in order to get the haze look which takes away time and an assistant needed also to help out. Thanks for showing also all the steps in this setup, I think the back light from overhead gelled was a great touch. Wouldn't have occurred to me that. You're the best Lindsay.
