I'd have more faith in your old Patrol than I would in a lot of the new vehicles with all the computer and electronic gadgets.

I got same vehicle for most its life, the best thing about it is so long as preventative maintenance is kept up is the lack of work needed over time compared to modern cars which will be next to the wrecker door in 12 years.

So true, so much running on computers, yet the moment they get wet or play up the insurance company rights the whole car off! That can't be good for the environment 🤷♂️

Wouldn’t have it any other way. I hope my 2005 Patrol is in the same condition when she hits 30 😊 I’ve got a list of things to upgrade / fix. Slowly chipping away as I can afford it. Fitted a redarc bcdc charger to the front aux battery, what a game changer that was.

Maintenance = rewards, especially on older model vehicles. Well done on keeping the old girl going. But I did notice one thing, your positive battery terminal is a mess and dangerous. Maybe a pos bus bar may solve that for you.👍

Yeah 15 years of add ons and modifications leads to messy wiring 🤣. Everything is fused and had no electrical problems, but we are about to change the deep cycle system, really excited to do this and can't wait to share the results 😀

I got a life hack for you. Go down to Bunnings, get yourself Pinch Weld door seals. You buy it in lengths. Replace the regular pinch welds on the doors of your GQ with a nice fat door seal, it helps keep the doors closed firm and reduces even more road and wind noise.

Nice one Adam. A little bit of maintenance goes a long way. Neglecting maintenance just leads to spending much more time & money on repairs in the long run. Part of my regular maintenance is to rotate my spare belts. I do it so that my spare belts don't crack & perish from just sitting in the back for a long time. Don't want to lose a belt only for the replacement to let go a short time after it goes on.

@@GoingOverland I'm fastidious about my maintenance as well & I also believe that's why my GQ has always gotten us home as well. Maintenance videos are great. Even though I know how to do most things myself, it's always good to see how others do it.
