Thank you for your knowledge! I couldn't get a schematic but went straight to D39 to find it shorted. Now the amp is working thanks to you.

This video was a god send! I had 2 units that had failed and thought I had to throw them away. Turns out both had D32 shorted in the power section and after replacing those shottky diodes with a different manufacturer (Part Number VS-MBRS1100-M3/5BTGICT-ND Specs: 100V 1A DO214AA) they are both back in business. Funny thing is one is an old NU6000 and the other a much newer NX4-6000 but they both have the exact same power PCB revision. The nx4-6000 had failed about a week ago and that unit had replaced my failed NU6000 from a couple years ago. I thought I was out 2 units but both are working again! Thanks again for sharing your expertise in fixing Behringer amp, such a pity that something like a shoddy shottky diode can render devices inoperable so easily. Keep up the great worK!

Love the voice description of these videos. I've heard also that shotkey diodes are used in SMPS because they can switch much faster than normal silicone diode, smps can switch at over 25kHz.
@AudioAmplifierServicing

Thank you, your correct the diodes are used in smps due to their ability to switch on and off at high frequency.

almost.. FREDs are often used for high speed switching & spike snubbing in SMPS. Shotkey diodes have the advantage that Vf is much lower, so the dissipate much less power.

Thanks for the Video! Lately, I hooked up a 4 Ohm Subwoofer on the Amp, and let it run for a few minutes. Then I realitez, that the amp was shutting down for a short period and immediatly restarting. But when I went to check it, it was already in Protection mode and no sound was getting through. I had the same faults as you were describing, so I replaced also both diodes D29, D30 with the SB1100. It went out of Protection Mode, and i thought, it was good. But sadly I was getting 80 V DC on both Outputs and also a few Volts DC on the Input... Now I guess I have to try and find also a whole new board for the Amp if I am lucky.

Don't waste your money. Spend a little extra and get a decent amp, old school are better, such as a Crown MA5000VZ / MA5002VZ or Crest Audio Pro 10001, CA18, etc. Old school amps are heavy but they last forever. To get reliability from lightweight amps you have to look at companies such as Lab Gruppen & Powersoft, etc. The price is high. Behringer amps are not reliable, they're just cheap. The price of their PCBs is high because they want you to buy another amp, not repair your broken one. Hence, no available schematic diagrams for their products. A little extra money spent on a decent amp now, will serve you well in the future.

@@subculture-records Yeah, in the future I am going to buy another Amp, for now, I contacted musictribe and bought a pcb for 330$. The delevery time was also very short, about a week, so they had it in stock, luckily. Now it works just fine again and I hope, the stronger Diodes will last longer.

I notice that you can change a link in the SMPSU to convert the mains voltage from 230 to 115v; is this as simple to do as moving the link and doubling any inlet fuse? I am learning a bit more about amps now (class D, class H and revisiting Valves). I am about to be authorised by Behringer again but don't have schematics yet. I no longer live and work in the UK but now Brazil. We have 127 and 220v here, and I am getting a lot of damaged power supplies, amps, keyboards, mixers etc. I put out some videos on my channel as well but I specialise in electronic musical instruments, pro PA systems etc. Only make I will no longer work on is Crown (they make some nasty DC coupled amps that when one SMD transistor blows, you need to be careful to replace all of them on the channel).

I've tested the speakers and mixer with different cables and amplifier. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. Cheers Rob

Hi I have not seen this issue but would advise to check with customer support at care@musictribe.com. If your Amplifier is within the 3 years warranty period, it will be covered under warranty.

Thank you for this video I'm repairing a amplifier similar to this one .these amps when they are in protection does the fans power up ,my amplifier the sg3525 in protection mode there is not input voltage and output voltage on the 15 + and 15 - and 24v regulators (fans off and 24 v led for the front panel all off just wondering if this is related to the amps in shutdown mode ?
@AudioAmplifierServicing

Hi if the Amplifier is in protection mode the fan can spin for a few seconds on start up before the protection mode initiates. If the power supply board is disconnected from the Amplifier board and the power supply is not in protection mode then the fan will spin at high speed. I reviewed the SG3525 data sheet. www.st.com/en/power-management/sg3525.html

@subculture-records It does come with a 3 year non transferable warranty, but it seems the Amplifiers fail just outside the warranty period. .

Good afternoon, i have the same amplifier with an issue on the two lm317 regulators, the amp switches on and works but the two 5w 12 ohms resistors heat up after a few seconds and smoke. This even happens with the fans and amplifier board disconnected... The lm 317 are good and they only seem to be supplying the fans. The strange thing is that with everything disconnected they still smoke and heat up. Thanks in advance.

Well you talk about measuring the diodes in the rectifier for example, but don't show which ones it is. I have a nx6000d that died (not much used in 3 years). I opened it up and measured all voltages as accurate. The fans and display started up when i disconnected the ps from the amp board. I then connected the ps again, and it ran again for almost 2 weeks. Yesterday it died again.

@@AudioAmplifierServicing thanks i missed that completely. My problem was temperature dependant. when room was 18c it did not start, when temp rised to 20c, it started. It was a capacitor around the Viper chip (the softstart chip). It is fixed now.
