I really want someone to make a video that acrtually shows us a Behringer enclosure that has been broken through normal use. We keep hearing about how cheap and delicate they are but I have yet to see a single broken one.

The mode switch only adds in a mid cut filter on mode 2, it doesn't change the circuit to a different type of fuzz. The SF300 is a clone of the boss FZ-2 which itself is a tribute to the Shin-ei FY-7 superfuzz which has a tone switch that activates the same mid cut filter, the boss tribute adds an active tone stack and standard boss buffering as well as a third mode which is the boost, as mentioned the Behringer SF300 is just a total clone of the Boss FZ-2 but the slider switch on the SF300 allows for modes 1 and 2 to be ran in parallel unlike the rotary switch on the Boss.

Please do a teardown of the Boss FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz that the Behringer Super Fuzz SF300 is inspired by. That would be really cool.

I’ve been tinkering around with possibly rehousing a couple Behringer pedals, but I’ve had a little trouble. Would love to see how you would approach rehousing yours. I think that’d be a really fun video

an aluminum enclosure would cost more than this pedal sells for new. i have NEVER had a behringer pedal break or fail. no need to replace the enclosure at all.

Another cheap Behringer to look at is the HM-300. As a clone of a Boss HM-2, I was really curious how Behringer was going to get around the Germanium cross-over distortion diodes. 1N60 glass diodes... never seen them before. I was expecting Schottky diodes, but I found through-hole glass diodes.

Yeah I think there's two 1N60's, one has a "P" suffix. Can't recall which is which.

Great pedals! Especially if you put a extra switch in there that makes it possible to use fuzz1 and fuzz2 at the same time. (You can also make the stock switch stick between the two.)

You probably could, what I want though is a switch for boost and fuzz 1. I love fuzz 2 and boost on bass but I don't like the more scooped sound

Happy new year bro! It just shows how simple yet, how much fun we can have fun. I don’t believe in stealing a circuit. I honestly think that is lack luster. Yet, I think people can improve or bring new game.

On a side note, my wife bought me one of these for Christmas. For DIY Guitar Pedals, I made the Meat Grinder Fuzz, which is really good, but there were some things, schematically, I was curious about. I wanted to see what Behringer's take was.

which Si ? And is that interesting mod or waste of time? I did only octave/off mod - it really changes the fuzz tone in all 3 fuzz modes.

It's not super-necessary but still add some flavor. How did you do octave off mod, I might try that to. For 30 EURs great soundings platform to play around.

Could just apply some shielding tape to the enclosure instead of rehousing it. If you rehouse it you’ll want to install a full sized momentary switch.

I love this channel man! It’s lots of fun and informative. I dig your variety of pedals/ boards you choose. I’m hoping you can pass some advice on to me? My cheap multimeter finally crapped out on me….. I remember an episode from back a while….you spoke about your multimeter. I especially like the ability to easily detect germanium leakage. I’m in the market for a good meter, and it wound be cool if you could remind me what it is. Or anyone else that watches here…. If you guys remember can you let me know? Keep up the awesome work, and I hope you continue to produce these videos. Cheers

Thank you! I don't know of any multimeter that properly measures germaniums for the reason you described; not taking into account leakage for gain measurements. You can use a multimeter as part of the measuring process with RG Keens tester circuit (www.geofex.com/article_folders/ffselect.htm). Any multimeter will do.

It seems easy enough to replace when it comes to soldering and availability... but depending on your region, shipping for the part, whether or not you have a soldering iron (which will cost the same as the pedal) I can see why people don't. Sadly everything is automatically disposable when it's cheap enough, even if it's built well.

gotta give credit to Behringer for making a cheap but efficient version of the Boss pedal...they're not meant to be top of the line, and they are fine for inexpensive or starter boards.

I don't think going beyond a full metal enclosure is necessary, but you have to have some connection between your circuit ground and the enclosure to be effective.

Thanks. I'd like to tap the 3-way switch and either replace it with a definable 4-way or separate access to the parallel signal with it's own toggle. Anyone know of a mod? Also a bit of a bummer that there's no trimpot to adjust the gain range; all the way down is still stupid-OTT. It could be a more flexible pedal if it could occasionally offer _medium_ gain instead of going constantly ott.

I used for that booster as unboost/underdrive - with Volume less than unity level from a guitar - it helps a bit to get more tight fuzz sound but anyway it is not not that great as FuzzFace.
