I feel strange about Olivia’s story. I want to believe everyone and it’s heartbreaking to lose both parents, but where was this legal fight when her poor mum was being moved into the family business? Why wasn’t this a legal case then? it sounds like it only became a problem when her inheritance was stolen. If this was my mum I would be more upset about the end of her life being so horrible and getting justice for that than getting my inheritance money. That’s the last thing I would care about.

If that’s the case it makes a lot more sense, especially if she thought her sister was a decent person right up until today.

The coolant should be changed every 50k miles. If not, it becomes acidic and destroys the water pump seals. Transmission fluid should be drained and filled every 60k miles even though there is no dipstick. I am very satisfied. The one with the Honda Accord problems, he bought a car right at 100k miles, right when a lot of stuff starts coming due for maintenance so people dump their car and buy a new one instead of spending the money on maintenance. He didn't say all that was done, but that's when you need to do a timing belt, spark plugs, basically the entire front suspension and steering, motor mounts, etc. I personally think a better deal is to find a car closer to 120-130k if you want lower miles, where those issues if they exist will be more pronounced or else would have already been fixed. Even better to find a seller with service records, although that's few and far between. Cars that are taken care of do last. You have to do maintenance on any car. You can't just buy a car and drive it and expect it to last forever. I own two vehicles right now, one at nearly 190k and one nearly 220k. Both work great. Small problems may exist that you just live with, but both are dependable vehicles for me. If a bigger problem arises, you get it fixed, don't wait for it to get worse until the vehicle is undriveable.

I'm really curious to know why all the folks at Ramsey Solutions advise people to private sell vehicles they don't own or have the title for. Dealerships will never give you the title until the car is paid off in full. No one in their right mind will ever do a private sale if a company has a lien on the vehicle you're trying to sell and you don't have the title.

Obviously an unpaid lien is a problem, but the advice is to bring your cash to the deal, combined with cash from the sale and bring to the bank and get the title. @mslessgo930
8 ай бұрын
@@reneespring834 That's not the situation of the people calling in. Most of the people calling in don't have thousands laying around to cover the gap. Which is why they often say "I'll be upside down on the car". If someone owes $40K+ on a vehicle, they private sell it for $30K, Ramsey folks have told callers to take a loan for the $10K difference. Sure they have reduced their debt, but did it at a much higher interest rate, which means they could potentially still be paying the same monthly amount they can't afford. Banks are not giving out personal loans the way they used to.

Stonewalling is an indicator of divorce, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. criticism, defensiveness, stonewalling, and contempt. So actually the first caller has potentially a serious issue even though he didn't make it sound so bad. Whoa the lady who allegedly ripped off her sister's inheritance... you have to make a formal complaint so that there is potential criminal action against her. We don't really know if the facts as stated are correct, but if they are to me you have a moral obligation to do that. As someone who lived overseas I would say living in a foreign country is a life altering upgrade to the lives of your children. Try to enroll them in a Polish school if possible and get going on the Polish lessons. It's not necessarily easy but it is completely awesome. Life experience will be orders of magnitude better for them, in my opinion. Living in a foreign country during childhood is life changing just for the reason that you can see there is more than one way to live life, which 99% of Americans are fundamentally unaware of. But what is professionally life changing for the child is knowledge of another language. Going overseas is great. Hope Russia doesn't go to Poland after trump greenlights their takeover of ukraine next year. haha. I'm vomiting and laughing nervously at the same time. Whoa the meteorologist and the traffic reporter have nice chemistry. You CAN make a plan with the garnishor (garnishee?)... They just failed in their attempt to garnish your hubby's bank account cuz it's empty so they should be motivated to close out this account, even though it might take some time to figure it out. 9k is not enough to do bankruptcy. offer the 6k cash, don't offer a payment plan until they refuse the 6k. No sympathy for the Goldman dude who is complaining about his 230k income after retiring early and living a 1% of the 1% lifestyle.

George did explain the debt snowball on one of the last calls, but he did it in haste. The RS personalities need to show HOW to apply a previous paid payment and add it to the minimum payment for the next debt. (Give an example: Paying $300 a month to pay off the lowest debt. Next debt minimum payment is $142 which you're already paying and is in the budget - you would then be paying $442 per month on that next debt.) I'm not sure everyone really understands this part of the pay-off plan and how to do the math. They don’t want you to have a bad credit score, they want you to have one that’s undeterminable when you are completely out of debt. Having a bad credit score affects everything in your life so they try to avoid that especially if you are in debt. Also, if you have ever noticed when someone is in a situation where their car is underwater they will tell people to take a “bridge” loan out for that. Again, you need a good credit score to be lent the money!

@@Trustbutverify2651 Well the thing about the bridge loan is it does in fact reduce your debt. For example: if you are underwater in an 18k car, sell it for 15k and then take a loan for 3k you have reduced your debt by a significant amount. At the end of the day there are exceptions to the situation and the advice isn’t necessarily linear for that reason!

Really they are shorthanding telling you. If you voluntarily Repo. The bank auctions the item. The bank has no need to fight or wait for best fair price because You must pay the difference. As well as the bank will charge you a crazy fee for towing and detailing car prior to auction. If you sell it yourself the amount you’ll end up owing the bank will be about half.

The Olivia situation....sister running off with inheritance. I'm a funeral director. Power of attorney is only valid while your mom is alive. At the point of death, PoA ends. The executor of the estate has power at that point. In the case of siblings, each sibling has equal say over what happens with mom's body disposition...whether she's cremated, embalmed, not embalmed, etc. In the case of cremation, directors want majority of siblings in agreement to do it, because it's total destruction of a person's body. Embalming a person's body, still leaves a body to be seen and buried. So I'm wondering if you were present during the funeral/Cremation arrangements. Because the director would ask both siblings what they want done with Mom....unless the sister just did it and you weren't there. A director won't move forward with body disposition if they know there's another sibling....they would want to hear from all the siblings....especially if there wasn't a will or prearrangement specifying what mom wanted done. Basically the executor of the estate is responsible for doling out the estate according to moms wishes. The executor has the power to write checks, etc. While mom was alive, depending on type of PoA the sister had, she could've sold the house, business, moved money, etc. This is why it's better for things to be in a trust. The sister made a plan to escape once the dust settled.....without a signed will or trust in place, if you fight for the money, there may not be any left, if you can find the sibling. I'm sorry it happened. Leave your family in a better situation than you were put in.

As a minor point, please learn to use "myself" correctly. " Rachel will be there, myself, etc. is not correct.. Rachel will be there, I will be there, etc. is correct. Most of the time in English, using "myself" is incorrect unless someone is saying that he or she can do something without someone else's help like, "I did that myself." 99% of the time the correct usage would be either "I" or "me." This is a very common error, but since you do verbal shows, correct grammar is more important than just speaking with a person individually.

Its seems like everything learned as a young adult goes out the window when you grow up-ish and get married. Just because your married doesn't mean you have to keep procreating. Then call to complain about finances. Kids are a choice its 2 adults whom choose to engage in baby making activities yet are educated on how to prevent that. But this show will never address that. I know couples whom are married for over 30 years but chose to have no kids yet still enjoy the activities. Yes babies are a delightful gift and a blessing yet they are also a choice when it comes to marriage. The baby is never the reason for why you as an adult can't do things or need to rethink finances.

A man should never expect a woman to pay his debts period if you can't afford it on your own then you don't need it. Married or not people should take care of their own mess they got into on their own but this show and society is teaching against that. You signed the contract alone well you pay it off alone. You took out student loan went to class and aren't in the field well you pay it off alone. Adults are taught make a bad decision its ok once married your spouse will take care of it.

Yours and your spouses debt becomes "our debt" and you are both responsible for paying it off. Legally the spouse with the debt can sue for money from recent ex to pay for half the debt at the very least. Keeping anything separate does not bode well and creates distrust, disloyalty, disunion and more.
@LazRez61

@@LisaPFramptonJust because its legal doesn't make it right. Why would you think the government has the right to decide what happens with your personal life. They aren't in your house in your bed. They didn't make these decisions you as an individual did. And before you start throwing around legalities remember in history how women weren't allowed to vote , men were allowed to abuse their wives legally for 6 days and give them one day of rest on Sundays. A woman or man can easily say let me rack up debt then look for a wealthy spouse to marry to help pay it off then leave that person. And god forbid that wealthy individual ask for a prenup knowing the other has pre existing debt. The person that has more to gain will always push back more than the person that has more to loose. If you truly trust each other and marrying for love you'll be willing sign that prenup keep finances separate even as a test. Kind of like giving someone an empty gun just to see if they will point it at you and pull that trigger .

@@LisaPFrampton No, legally a spouse cannot be forced to pay half of a student loan that was taken out before marriage. I agree with LaRez61 - let the person who took out the student loan work the extra jobs to pay it off UNLESS both had relatively equal amounts of students loans when they marry. Keeping things separate dos not necessarily create distrust, disloyalty, disunion, etc. It's keeping anything SECRET that does. Many of us who watch the show have lived happily for years with "his", "hers", and "ours" accounts, as long as we know what is in all the accounts and there are no surprises. Many couples have totally different interests, some separate accounts, and are still very happily married. The Ramsey Way is a good way and has helped millions of people, in particular those with substantial debts, but it is not the only way to manage money.

I'm unclear about the regular mortgage at 2.4% and the HELOC at 8.5%. Why wouldn't they just refinance and roll both of those into a single loan with a lower overall interest rate since the HELOC loan is so substantial? My husband and I have never had a HELOC, so I really don't understand why this is in baby step 6 with both the figure and the interest rate so high. Why does the RS not ever mention refinancing? (We also have never refinanced - we just paid off our house very quickly and are still in our "starter" home - now it's just the right size in retirement.)
