@@BeyondBeliefs-NVI appreciate that u admitted that u know only a bit of Sanskrit. That is a good sign and you can begin learning from there. There is a saying in English that "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing". So my advice is that start reading any of the Bharatiya scriptures like Bhagavad Gita or Ramayana in your mothertongue and that it's not like memorizing the shlokas like you did at your school and college level for clearing the exam. U have to read it again and again and there also you will find talking birds like Jadayu and things like that and u have to analyse, contemplate and meditate upon these to know the real meaning of these things otherwise u you will have to consult a very good scholar. Only after understanding puranas will u be able to understand Vedas because Vedas are in the form of sutras or formulas. I am not a scholar and I study Puranas in my mother tongue and what I study I study it thoroughly. So without understanding things please don't spread misconceptions and mislead people.

To his enemies the householder must be brave. Them he must resist. That is the duty of the householder. He must not sit down in a corner and weep, and talk nonsense about non-resistance. If he does not show himself a brave person to his enemies, he has not done his duty. And to his friends and relatives he must be as gentle as a lamb. It is the duty of the householder not to pay reverence to the wicked; because if he reverences the wicked people of the world, he patronises wickedness; and it will a great mistake if he disregards those who are worthy of respect, the good people. He must not be gushing in his friendship; he must not go out of the way making friends everywhere; he must watch the actions of the men he wants to make friends with. And their dealings with other men, reason upon them, and then make friends. - Swami Vivekananda (from lecture on Karma Yoga - Each one is great in his place)

Kshatriya is an individual, group or class of people who take up the responsibility to follow the Kshatra Dharma, that is to put up a resistive front that counters the entities fighting Dharma and it's disciples in a fair, systematic and comprehensive way. The end goal of Kshatrtva is to provide an umbrella-ecosystem (Kshatra) to the Dharma Societies to practice, preach and propagate Dharma (it's a non-translatable, read Sanskrit non-translatable by Rajiv ji); a Kshatriya is also supposed to negate n weaken adharma and other degeneracies that so much harm the humankind, animals and the whole ecological and spiritual balances of collective consciousness, by conquering and confronting them with the force of Śāstra/शास्त्र(the truth as we know) and Astra-Shastra/अस्त्र-शस्त्र (the power tools to victory). According to Dharma only a Kshatriya has the authority to give danda/दण्ड(punishment) if any, ever required. He's governed by his Swadharma (the Dharma as he knows it/perceives). As you've mentioned, yes Pandava were Kshatriya, as were the Kaurava, Lord Krishna and many other warriors in Mahabharata.

Misinterpretation of Dharma by the West. We are conditioned to see ourselves and each other in the role of creator that we tend to forget that creation is an embedded function that goes on with or without our conscious involvement. The entire concept of Creation and creator is our humanly perception of doing things then be it cooking meals, building cities, launching satellites, spaceship or dropping a bomb in reality it is not a distinct function, but it is an embedded function in an entangled universe where creation manifestation and transition is embedded in each and every bit. Misinterpretation of Dharma by the West. Comparison Biblical or Quranic traditions are centered around the concept of religion, It is about belief in a God and his messenger and the book as an abstract manifestation that entails distinct sets of beliefs or doctrines for the believers and their relation with non believers which is mostly based on hatred and rejection. Dharma is eternal while the religion is started by a prophet or messenger. Religion claims itself to be the reality and does not permit questioning. Biblical and Quranic religions is exclusive as it excludes others and emphasis on a single God, a Prophet or savior and a holy book which alone is the way of liberation. Religion applies only to human beings and not to the entire cosmos; there is no religion of electrons, monkeys, plants and galaxies, whereas all of them have their dharma their function even if they carry it out without intention. Dharma vs Religion/Majhab Indic spiritual traditions are centered around the concept of Dharma. How Dharma is different form religion? Dharma is the Duty it is the Function as per one's virtue, qualification, personal, professional and social obligations. It emphasizes on the the performance of Karma in accordance to Dharma and Rta" (Rta" It is the Cosmic Order or the fundamental principles of the operation of universe) All actions that are harmonious and in accordance to Rta" the cosmic and social order is Dharma what is not is Adharma. Dharma is universal and applicable to everyone and everything around us and as per the nature of person object time and space its methodology can vary. According to Gita Svadharma is better though difficult to practice it comprises of prescribed duties of an individual for material and spiritual fulfilment. Dharma is concerned with the basic principles of cosmic and individual existence in conformity to one's duty and nature. While karma is an action that can be either good or bad, dharma is a moral direction for karma to bear positive and auspicious fruits for oneself and those who are affected by it. Dharma has the Sanskrit root dhri, which means "that which upholds" or "that without which nothing can stand" or "that which maintains the stability and harmony of the universe." Dharma encompasses the natural, innate behavior of things, duty, law, ethics, virtue, etc. Every entity in the cosmos has its particular dharma ― from the electron, which has the dharma to move in a certain manner, to the clouds, galaxies, plants, insects, and of course, man. Man's understanding of the dharma of inanimate things is what we now call physics. Dharma provides the principles for the harmonious fulfillment of all aspects of life, including material and non material including enlightenment and liberation (moksha). Religion, then, is only one subset of dharma's scope. What is the religion of Dharmic people or people of Indic civilization? Why do we need to call it religion?? Sanatan Dharma is our way of life and it is also our religion. World order is based on internationally recognised set of laws and rights. The constitution and UN charter grants special rights and privileges to the organized religions of the world. Although Religion is confined within the scope of Dharma hence it is a subset of Dharma however the world lacks the understanding about the principle of Dharma hence it becomes important to present certain principles of Dharma like the religion of the west.😊 In western and colonial context indic religion comprises of its 4 sects named as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism but this is not a correct classification. Dharma acknowledges and prescribes several paths or methodology for the attainment of the highest purpose of our existence. There are many sects, pantha or marga of Dharmic people and since Dharma is an inclusive philosophy that is continuous in nature so the right term for Dharmic philosophy and tradition is Sanatan Dharma. It prescribes many distinct paths of spiritual enhancement, enlightenment and liberation. Of the many religious traditons prescribed and practiced by the people of Indic Dharmic civilization there are many Paths or Margas that can be listed as follows Bodh Marg or path of Buddha, Jain Marg or path of Mahavira, Gyana marga or the path of knowledge, Karma Yoga or path of action, Dhyaan Yoga or path of meditation, Bhakti Yoga or path of devotion. spirituality practiced in its many theistic and monistic forms such as Shaivism, Vaishnavism and Shaktism. Sikhism etc. that revolved around Bhakti Marga, Gyana Marga and Karma Marga. (In true sense Indian monotheism is monism). In Hindu traditions, there is lots of emphasis on monotheistic worship of one form of God however it does not prescribe for monopolistic monotheism. Rather it prescribes for monotheistic worship of God in accordance to one's traditions, Karma and nature with no aspect of otherism or conversion...
