Lara's been my favourite singer since I was 10 (so it's been 22 years). She has a powerful voice in many songs but the ones I prefer are : Parce que tu pars (♥), L'oubli (written for her mother), I guess I loved You, Love By Grace, Broken Vow, Adagio (of course!), You're not from here, Pas sans toi, Aime, Mama Moya and Ma vie dans la tienne. She is the only singer who makes me cry. On stage she is amazing. Once, I went to one of her concerts and she sang Je suis malade. At the end of the song, she just put the mike on the floor and she started to sing with no mike and no music. It was just breathtaking and soooo powerful. God, I love that woman! :)

Lovely reaction Jenn. Lara is an amazing singer and performer. She goes deep. She was so immersed in the emotions and story of the song; you can see at 7:14 she is trying drag herself back to the present. More Lara reactions please! Her songs Je T'aime, Adagio, and Caruso are all great! One unique performance is "Lara Fabian - Je T'aime - Live Concert - magyar fordítással", where to the song Je t'aime" (I love you), before she could start singing to them, her fans began singing the song to her, but substituting the words "on t'aime" (we love you). Really quite emotional and something to see.

First of all: Lara took the melody of Adagio song from 18th century and then wrote the lyrics in English and Italian version (since she is able to speak fluently in 5 languages and to get some communication in more 2. She also already recorded songs in 12 languages, made some arrangements and BOOM, we have Adagio modern version by Lara Fabian. Second, Lara started to study classical Bel Canto thecnic when she was 8 years, She also plays piano like a master and has been writing her own music and lyrics of 90% of hers since she was 16 years old. She attended to this Opera conservatory in Brussels for 10 years and she still keeps attending to vocal lessons during her tours around the world since 1992.

Je suis malade (song) The real story of the song When the song was written, Lara Fabian was only 3 years old. Je suis malade is a song by Serge Lama, released in 1973 as a single and on the album Je suis malade. Written by Serge Lama on a music composed by Alice Dona, the song became the most emblematic title of the repertoire of Serge Lama who regularly takes it on stage 3. History The song Je suis malade was inspired by a real heartbreak of Serge Lama, the story of a long secret relationship. In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. Love was a certainty, but neither of them was free: he had married Daisy Brun, his press agent, in 1968, and she was married and had a son. They love each other in secret for several years and promise to regain their freedom, but Michèle hesitates and finally flees him and settles in Morocco for professional reasons. Lama is desperate, he wants to put words on his pain without succeeding, until the day he confides in his friend Alice Dona: "this story hurts me, it makes me sick. Back home, at the piano, Alice Dona, composes in a few hours a melody [...], that very quickly, she makes the singer listen. It was a revelation and Serge Lama wrote almost the entire text in one go. He will say later "The 80% of the song I wrote in 20 minutes, it's almost a shame [...] it came out of my heart so much that I [...] immediately felt that this song had something that the others didn't have". However, nothing is done. His record company Philips does not believe in the song and to impose it Lama threatens to leave if he is refused to record it3. He wins his case and soon Je suis malade is released as a single. Unfortunately, the radio programmers prefer the B side, the lively and cheerful song Les P'tites Femmes de Pigalle which becomes a hit6. At every opportunity, however, Lama sings Je suis malade, on television, on stage [...], recognition will come, not (in this period), through him, but from a cover by Dalida very touched by the subject of the song and whose inspired and desperate interpretation will seduce the public. After that, Serge Lama's popularity was turned upside down and he definitely became a recognized and popular singer-songwriter4. Many years later, the artist confides: "An LP of Serge Lama at the time it was worth 4000-5000 albums [...] But after Les Ballons rougesNote 1 it is 1 million4." Recognition came for the creator of Je suis malade, in 1974, when one evening on the stage of the Olympia in Paris, Serge Lama completed the song by interpreting it without a microphone a cappella in front of an audience conquered by a triumph. Another happiness, the return of Michele, free and together, they give birth to a boy named Frederic in 1981 and marry ten years later8. Michèle died in 2016 at 71 years, victim of a stroke9. Her death gives the song another dimension, Lama who has not given up singing it on stage says: "Every night when this song comes, I know it is an obstacle that must be jumped [...], it usually takes me a minute to recover [...], this song deserves to be given everything".

The song I'm Sick is inspired by a real heartache of Serge Lama, the story of a long secret relationship. In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. Love is a certainty, but they are not free either: in 1968 Daisy Brun married her press secretary, she is married and the mother of a little boy. They love each other in secret for several years and promise to regain their freedoms, but Michèle hesitates and eventually flees and settles in Morocco for professional reasons. Lama is desperate, he wants to put words on his pain without succeeding, until the day he confides to his friend Alice Dona: "This story hurts me, it makes me sick". Back home, at the piano, Alice Dona composes in a few hours a melody [...], which very quickly she makes listen to the singer. It is a revelation and Serge Lama writes almost the entire text with a jet.3 He would later say, "The 80% of the song I wrote in 20 minutes is almost a shame. [...] it came out of my heart so much that I immediately felt that this song had something that others didn't have. ». The great Serge Lama...

Hi... I’ve never been a very big fan of Lara Fabian. She is quite a big star in France for years, but she is known as a « shouter » and a little bit « too much » in her song interpretations. But I agree that in this video she brings really something to the song. ... one of the most famous song in France by the way... just compare with the original singer: Serge Lama « je suis malade : kzitem.info/news/bejne/qXqY1o6mpmubbJg

"Je suis malade" (I am sick) is a 1973 song by Alice Dona and Serge Lama, The song is about her love taking his own life, which is why she is so angry and hurt. She can't live without him.

Lara really brought the story to life. The emotion she delivered told the story in every language. There's a song from the 80s by Skid Row called I Remember You that is along the same lines, but from the man's perspective. Here's the link if you'd like to check it out. kzitem.info/news/bejne/0qCrq4yBsKCcf3o I'd like to get your reaction to it.

Hi, Jenn. Did you notice how Lara mentally prepared herself at the start of the video getting "into" the song? Again at the end of the video, which you cut short, she take a good while to become aware of her surroundings. These are clear signs how intimately she told the story throughout the performance. Add to that what she does with voice, the body language and facial expressions, gripping the attention of the audience (including us). The supporting, accompanying musicians were excellent adding to the entire atmosphere of the event as it played off. A lovely reaction. Thanks.

Lara Fabian is creme de la creme. She''s Belgium native and has Canadian citizenship. Lara speaks English, French, Italian and Spanish fluently. Some people say she sounds like Celine Dion but Celine doesn't have 10% of emotion and stage presence Lara Fabian has. Dimash sings her songs & considers Lara Fabian one of the artist that influences his singing style. You can see the drama, the eyes in their singing. She composed and is the original singer of "Adagio" (in Italian and then English), "Broken Vow" as well as wrote the lyrics for "Mademoiselle Hyde".

Originally this song superbly interpreted by Lara was written and performed by Serge Lama in 1973 and the text is the doubly autobiographical expression of the male singer-songwriter who included in this true desperate love story the unhappy feelings of his childhood. @
