I’m not your typical demographic, I’m a middle aged American woman. Not sure how I ended up here on this corner of KZitem. But I completely agree with your conclusions. I had lots of solid excuses for ending up obese with a BMI of 40. I quit smoking, lost a physically demanding job through no fault of my own, had two complicated pregnancies back to back that put me on bed rest, suffered a serious orthopedic injury that put me in a wheelchair for months, and then lost my 31 year old husband in an accident. It was a lot. I hardly even realized how big I had gotten for many years. But…at some point I decided I’d had enough and I took stock of my situation. I actively changed everything about the way I approached food. I changed what and when I ate. I went all in with keto and intermittent fasting and within 2 years 95lbs had melted off. It didn’t happen as fast for me as it can for some. I had a lot of factors working against me. But I didn’t give up. It can be done, even when the odds are against you. It’s worth the effort. I don’t hate fat people, I don’t entirely blame them for their weight, but ultimately it’s up to the individual to change their mindset and habits.

Leah, I am a middle aged American male. My BMI is also 39 or 40 now. Fast food and junk food diet and diet soda for decades. I was in great shape till I hit about 22, then started getting really fat. I am fed up with it. Finally set up some personal training sessions and going to be working with a nutritionist. Glad the keto worked for you. I am looking to go that route as well. Also, I am very sorry to hear about your husband. That is unfortunate. Glad to know you are doing good. I been watching Isaacs' content for about a month now and he cracks me up. @Keki Bannmi right?! It’s literally the exact opposite. But it’s not profitable if we’re not buying tons of processed carbs and paying through the nose for diabetes and cholesterol meds. It’s frankly criminal. The standard American diet is literally killing people. I try to explain it’s bad science and propaganda, we don’t need carbs or constant meals and snacks, but they seldom listen. Blaming ancient foods for modern diseases is ludicrous! You just have to follow the money and see what mega-corporations funded the “nutrition” science studies to know why the lies continue.

Isaac, first of all, congratulations on getting married! Secondly, as a life long fat person, I couldn't agree with you more about the health risks of being overweight. I was up to 530 lbs, lost 230 lbs, and am stuck in limbo at this point. I need to lose another 100 lbs to be at the best weight for my height. It seems that a lot of younger fat people have decided it's easier to get the world to accept them the way they are, instead of taking responsibility for their own health. When I fly I have to buy 2 seats and get a seatbelt extender. I pay for those seats, because the airline does not owe me a free seat. Same goes for movie theaters, restaurants, and so on. I had to learn to manage and it breaks my heart to see an unhealthy lifestyle being celebrated. I am now reaping the "benefits" of being fat for so long - heart issues, back issues, knees are shot, and I get around with a walker. Anyway, you keep on doing what you're doing - damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!

But it's like putting a band aid on a gaping wound. The system died in 2008 and the paid pundit class are just using the culture war to distract you from the stench of the corpse. Issac may be a social conservative, but he just voted Labor in the last election. Nah, I think it's more that being young your body can repair itself more efficiently, so you don't really feel the effects, but when you get to a certain age it can cripple you pretty quickly, then you pay for it later in life. I suppose growing up around overweight people it seems normal also. This is why the poster children for these movements tend to be younger people. Being overweight doesn't mean you lack ambition in other areas of life, same as being skinny doesn't mean you are automatically fit and healthy.

I wasnt involved in that toxic fatism and I was always aware about my health and that it kills me earlier than necessary. But I was completely okay with it until I got to know some "benefits" of being fat. I have precursors of Diabetes and problems with my eyes because of a high blood sugar due to shitty foof. I can completely get rid of those problems when I get my ass up and only eat healthy. And thats what I start today as I planned for the last couple of days. Even when I dont have anything to live for in my life and I'm literally a failure as a human, I enjoy some things I can only enjoy when I have functional eyes. Mid-twenties here too; I started by doing a little everyday. Not too many reps, not that heavy weights, not that long distances running/cycling. But I did make sure to do them everyday, and increase my reps, weight en distance in tiny steps. Once I got that discipline, I could make bigger steps in weight and reps. I tried a few years before, but always ended up quitting due to injury or exhaustion. With the mindset: just one day of rest That rolled into 2 days, 1 week, 1 month... etc. you know how it goes

You’re in your 20’s, the best and easiest time to lose weight. How terrifying your weight is starting to affect your sight? That should be the wake up call you need to make the necessary changes. Imagine how bitter, angry and depressed you’d be if you went blind because you didn’t cut out junk food? Start now. As soon as you start seeing results, you’ll be hooked 👍

I had Hyperemesis Gravidarum with all three of my pregnancies.. extreme morning sickness, to put it “simply”. I went from about 160-170 my first pregnancy, and after I had my daughter I was around 90-100lbs. I had one unhealthy meal after having her, because I wasn’t able to eat anything during my pregnancy… but after that, I got onto keto with my parents. My dad was taken off the diabetic list his doctor had, and I weighed about 120-135, and had abs even though I wasn’t doing your average work outs (just chasing kiddos around, going up and down stairs, etc, is what I was doing). Becoming thin was very unhealthy for me until I was able to get back into keto, which I then felt amazing. I was healthy, I was thin, everything was good. Well, I got my tubes tied after my third child, and I think I just got depressed… I stress ate, etc. I grew up around eating disorders and they followed me. Now, my heaviest weight as of about last month was 206lbs. But now? Now I’m in keto again. Well, trying to be. It’s hard because my husband eats whatever he wants to, so I feel pretty alone when it comes to my journey… but videos like this help me develop the control needed to say no to food and yes to water, one big meal or some small snacks throughout the day. It isn’t a lot, but I’ve already lost 6lbs and am hoping to be less than 200lbs by next week. So far, I’m just losing size, somehow. Water weight I guess? Like my double chin is basically gone… Anyways. Going from super thin and healthy, to “being fat is okay!” …. Sucks. Being fat is NOT okay. Being fat hurts. Looking in a mirror and really seeing how big you actually are? Hurts. I miss my thigh gap and being able to clean my house in less than 2 hours because my back wasn’t hurting after 5 minutes of standing and rinsing. I absolutely love body positivity. I’m not against it. Love yourself. But loving yourself doesn’t mean looking at your fat body and saying “fuck society, I’m beautiful!” … it means looking at yourself and realizing that you need to lose weight. No. It means realizing that you’re unhealthy. Body love is not stuffing it full of outrageous amounts of food, it’s taking care of yourself. These people don’t love themselves… they’re killing themselves. I was killing myself… No one said life was easy, so stop making it harder on yourselves 🤷🏼♀️

As someone who was overweight for about 15 years, I had every excuse in the book ready to tell myself, and I certainly did because it made me feel better. I've been fit for about 2-3 years, focusing on endurance and running. For the first year, i exercised like a demon but still didn't experience the changes I wanted. I became even more entrenched in my beliefs that being slim and healthy were inpossoble for me. Then I started watching Sean Casey, Dr Lane, and yourself. I learned the simplicity of weight loss and controlling my calory intake. I've lost 3 stone and am now a competitive runner and coach who at 40 can run an 18 minute 5k.

Absofuckinglutely beautiful photos, thank you so much for sharing them with us. 2) I completely agree. 3) I'm old & fat & bald--the trifecta of scaring women away! Still can't figure out why mine sticks around--must all the money, NOT. 4) Excellent series idea, would love to watch it. I watch damn near everything you put up here and I'm getting ready to watch the new mum & dad show here in a bit. (I force the wifey-poo to watch it as well. Actually it's more like she points and says, "Ooh look, there's a new Mum & Dad show.") Please do this series. I was a regular at my gym and then bad things happened because of a drunk driver--grrrrrrrrrrr. Anyway, how other are overcoming and striving to get a workout it might just kick me in the ass a bit. 5) Sit and have dinner with her every day (something I'm terrible at). Get away from the damn compy, it may make you some $$$ now, but you need her and she needs you more. besides the doggos need both of you more. (Big hugs to the doggos!) 6) Thank so much from an old fat man in Montana, U.S. A. The wife & I love your content!

Congratulations!! You guys are so suited to each other!! I wish you both all the best!❤ I think for the most part, obesity is a choice. Yes there are many factors that can affect that, but you are knowingly shoving large amounts of food into your mouth, that is obviously going to cause weight gain. That is a choice. I used to be obese and I knew that I was headed for trouble, I made the conscious choice to reverse it.

The one that kills me is I crushed my leg at work, I was stuck in bed for almost 8 months. Now I'm in physically therapy with my extra 30 lbs. Depression helped not to gain too much weight, but it's a battle now because the extra weight is making my other knee hurt but I'm down 10 lbs but it's been almost 9 months. I had to learn to walk again it's been interesting the Depression has gotten better, it's hard to go from walking 10 miles a day at work to not going 40 ft without taking a break.

Ummmm you need a bit of an education. People can get overweight without being an over eater. Someone can be starved in times in their life. There are other factors. Hell Im not small by any means. But I work 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week, I do 8, 000 steps a day burning at least 400 calories a day. And I barely eat I may eat my lunch at work or I may skip it and barely eat dinner. Its not always a choice there are factors that come into play. Are there those that are fat by choice yes. But when you make an absolute that Being fat is this and that you are saying every person thats overweight is because of what you just said and its not true.

Can confirm - when i'm being lazy and eat poorly, even after putting on like 8kg, I feel way worse mentally as well as feel super fucking unhealthy. I'm a 187cm and weigh like 88-90kg. I've also a hard time hitting the gym. Especially when it's really hot. What helps me in weight loss is eating one meal a day and cutting out carbs. So plenty of vegetables, protein and some healthy fats. Find stuff that tastes good and that you actually enjoy eating.

I would suggest minimizing eating, if you eat a little and wait, your mind will register it as if you have eaten, I will suggest consulting the internet for proper diet, since merely not eating a lot is unhealthy, as your body needs certain things and react badly to not intaking others. Personally I had found minimizing how much you eat and eating only when hungry easier than doing arobic work.

I’m the guy with the high metabolism. It finally started slowing down at the rate that it burnt, and I’m happy about it. Do you realize how bad I feel after eating 2000 fucking calories just to be hungry literally half an hour later? Now that it’s slowed down, I’m dealing with that hungry feeling a lot more, as I’m eating less now, but that is what happens sometimes.

I ruptured my ACL in kickboxing in february and healing has been a long, slow process. I appreciate this channel so much for helping to keep my spirits higher when healing has been so hard. Your words cut to the bone and I felt every single one of them as I struggle with wishing I was "all better" already rather than go through physical therapy but its a process just like with losing weight to get myself back in shape. One day at a time and choosing to do it intentionally is the way to go. Thanks for preaching this simple truth today, I needed to hear it.

This Analogy really works with drug addiction too. I did not choose to be an addict, I didn't wake up one day and say let's go do some heroin. It was a collection of choices that I made that led up to doing it. And and once I chose better choices, I became NOT an addict.

The whole body positivity thing started out as a good thing: You've got a nasty scar - so what?! Your body shape isn't that of a cat walk model because you're short and stocky - so what?! Things that couldn't be changed or controlled is what it targeted. How that got twisted into shaming people for wanting to lose weight for the sake of being healthy is incomprehensibly irresponsible. Sure, shaming people for being obese doesn't help them either, just adds to any depression of sense or shame or whatever it is that drives them to sitting on the couch watching soapies with a packet of tissues whilst devouring their preferred comfort food; but to encourage being proud of being obese is all levels of wrong as what it's saying is people should be proud of giving themselves heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, being at risk of dying from things as common as the flu - because that's what the results are.
