Hey Chrome, dig the advice. Maybe you can make a list of bare bones things you can recommend for someone starting van life may need/want to make their start a bit easier. A couple of examples: Jackery products, insulation (if cold), fans (if hot), exhaust fans. Those are things I'd need. But yeah. That's my idea.

And rent NOW... It's astronomical compared to then. It's awful. I don't know how people afford rent right now. We have a small very affordable house payment and seeing some rent prices are shocking. I NEVER raised the rent to my tenants either through this. We all need to band together right now. 💛💛💛

I’d been paying 440 until new owner took over thrn it went to 500 plus pet fees. They wouldn’t allow partials s I got paid so with late fee, it’s 665.00& still adding, and I won’t mention problems of the place, I’m moving & after this & day 10- I don’t know yet where next home will be, almost everytbing is in storage now and I’ve bought some camping supplies for my cwr

After a separation I was left running a house by myself. I got paid monthly and after paying all the bills I had £12 a month to pay for petrol and food, my life felt like Groundhog Day for years. Work, sleep, repeat. It was a dark period for me. Couldn’t sell the house at the time because of negative equity. I’ve moved back home with mum for a bit and have bought a van to convert and I’m so much happier.

This is the best! I too, have been longing to get out there and do some kind of home on wheels. I'm not exactly sure what it will look like until it gets closer. We've got the van and I think we'll get either a utility trailer to build out or a small camper. I've lived tiny before and I look very much forward to getting on wheels this time around. I had people say; "You can't do that" when I turned a small space into my own apartment on the side of my hair salon. When I finished, those naysayers were blown away! I loved that place! My "piece of paper" was an index card. One index card, a month, that started with some deposit amount on the 1st. My whole "life" could be accounted for on a 5"x3" paper. Often times, after rent, toilet paper, cream of wheat, I'd have less than $20 to my name, and I'd do whatever I had to do to cover cat litter for Lovey and Raider.🐱🐱 Things have changed since 2015, and since 2018 when I bought the Transit 250. Still budgeted out, but I have no debt. I'm not nearly as mindful as Sarah Yak or Mariah Alice, but living the "van life" offers more for my state of mind, absence of anxiety, than anything else I can imagine.

From an ontarian use to black ice, my grandfather and father always told me to drop the car into 2nd and even 1st gear. Let the transmission do the work. Yes, auto-transmission.
