I just brewed a belgian session IPA with chinook, cascade, citra and lallemand abbey yeast... it smells tropical, grapefruit, passion fruit... i'm addicted to belgian yeasts, I think they go so well for this kind of IPA!!! next one I'll try like yours with european hops to see if you still get tropical fruits smell!!!

I brewed a beer this summer that was originally intended to be a Belgian Tripel. Unfortunately, the Trappist yeast I used was a dud and wouldn't ferment for anything. I re-pitched with a pack of Ardennes and it basically turned into a Belgian Blond, for all intents and purposes. I called it Vapid Vespers. It was honestly the best "mistake" beer I've ever made, and as I'm sure you're aware, mistake beers can turn out fantastic!

Belgian beers are my favourite too. Never tried a Belgian IPA so should give this a go. Love that La Chouffe yeast. Just about to brew a batch of Dubbel for my Christmas beers. Brewed a Belgian Pale Ale this summer and man that beer is so good. Jamil's recipe came out so well balanced. Can't wait for you to get to the other Belgians.

Dude! As a fan of both y'all and Belgian beers, this was one I was looking forward to! Super pumped to see you give it a go. Please do a simple Saison or Biere de Garde with dry Belle Saison, it's super simple and gives that nice Franco-Belgian flavor. Love the channel, would love to do something similar with my limited resources.

Would it help in reducing oxygenation if you added a small length of silicone tubing onto your tap so that you can fill the growler from the bottom up. might not matter if you intend to drink it quickly but 5L of beer might end up tasting a bit stale if you wanted to drink it over a few days maybe.

Really enjoying this series, I admire your commitment! Is there anything you do to try and conserve or re-use water? I think I have it down to 3L of water per 1L beer after cleaning which seems a lot. And that isn't even considering the water used in growing the produce!
@TheHomebrewChallenge

Thanks! I try to reuse the water that flows through the plate chiller to sanitize my fermenter I’ve honestly not measured how much I’m using but yeah with all the cleaning etc it’s probably a fair amount.

Ooh nice - I love Belgian beers I was at the Bruges beer festival a couple of years ago and it was amazing. Belgian witbier was my first ever brew. I’ve never heard of this style at all Is the idea to use American style hops here or more of an English IPA style?

what area of the states is she from? Most of the words sound like american english but there are words here and there, such as her pronounciation of "banana" that sound distinctly brittish. It's not the first time I hear this sort of accent and it's made me curious! sorry if it's completely off topic.

Hey there i have one question since i always use bottles and never tried kegs. Does the beer have to go through secondary fermentation before filling it into the growler or the keg? Or does the secondary fermentation take place in that growler? thanks :)

You really need to make a Belgian IPA with American hops like Cascade, Chinook, Amarillo, etc. The citrusy, fruity flavors of the hops mix very well with WY 3522 Ardennes yeast. I need to make one now it’s been a long ty.
