Yea, I agree. It's funny though how a lot of people in the comments think every watch needs to be 100% unique as if that makes it a good design by definition. The most worn watches are always the ones looking the most timeless. This one looks super clean and to me looks original in its own right, just doesn't seem to be designed as a piece that's meant to ride a trend. I prefer it that way.

Very nice watch! Love the black dial, stainless steel bezel, red accents combo. I initially felt $500 was a little high, but the hardness coating makes up for it. Looks to be a great daily driver. Putting AR on the top of the crystal isn’t necessary or wanted, since it‘ll scratch before the sapphire crystal does.

I really like that. This seems to be a case of underratedness being a unique selling point. It is absolutely capable, clean and legible; the hardness & overall toughness are outstanding. The movement is solid and I like the bracelet which looks as if it would be a comfortable wear. I am fine with generic, as long as its good, and this is. Regarding the lume pip, it's - in my opinion - unnecessary anyway. You can clearly see where 12 is so who needs it. I'm glad you did this one, Pete, the guy who makes it has one nice watch on his hands and I hope he does well with it. Interesting video and watch. Cheers 👍

Thanks for the review Peter! I agree it's not ground-breaking, but I think it's generic in the right way, with a thoughtful and attractive design, and many features found in more expensive watches. Overall, a winner IMO. I especially like the hour and minute hands, although I'm less enamored with the GMT-like second hand. Maybe it would be more appealing in red like the 5-minute markings, or maybe a different style would have seemed less incongruous.

It's perfectly inoffensive. I don't mean that to criticise. There's nothing to dislike about the no nonsense skin diver design. The blue model in particular is a very pleasing shade. I really appreciate the double AR and scratch resistant coating which seems like premium features you definitely wouldn't expect on a watch under £400. I'm not in the market right now but probably would have bought this one a few months back.

Hi peter , san martin produce the best microbrands on the planet , and offer anything modelwise that the masses desire. They also make incredible watches for little money. They are also clever that they actually listen to the complaints of popular watches , that have major flaws like thickness , lack of microadjust etc ... and actually improve on them, with their homages. Honestly when i compare my tudor bb against my san martin , the finish is almost on a par. The fit is better !!! Obviously the movement on the tudor is top notch, but the san martin keeps great time too. What san martin can produce for £200 is just unbelievable and questions why youd pay 5k to get a real model. So my quetion is , unless you make a microbrand with its own designs that offer something different , then how are you able to compete with the likes of san martin , long term ? I actually think these chinese made watches could impact some of the swiss made manufacturers, and possibly put a few out of business in the future. Maybe not like seiko did with the quartz , but if your eyeing up that tissot thats nearly 1k , or oris / hamilton etc .... the likes of san martin , could effect their sales for sure. Even seiko need to worry , because their prices have gone sky high , compared to what they used to be. It will be interesting to see , what happens in the next 10 years or so , but maybe the desire for automatics dies down , and the smart watches take complete control , who knows ? I dont think that will happen as quartz watches were superior in terms of time keeping , but a new audience was born with the revival of automatics. Great vid as always m8 , and the watch was nice , but uninspiring to be fair.

I am confused by the pricing on their website. It says they ship from the USA but the prices are in British Pound? And the price supposedly includes VAT? Is it British VAT? And why would I have to pay UK VAT if I order from mainland Europe and would have to pay my local VAT at the point of import? Usually, VAT would have to be subtracted from the shop price. Why is there even VAT if it ships from the US? There is no VAT in the USA. Oh, and it's yet another watch company that doesn't even give an address, just a contact form. Regardless of what I think of the watch (I quite like it), this is just too strange for me.

Nice watch, spb14x inspired but way lower priced. The wr is same as the new 455 which is slightly more accurate than the 14x . I bought an spb143j1 and 3 months later I got tired of the atrocious time keeping. Was at +20@24h. Some might jump on me saying it's within specs. That's the classic consolation of the Seiko fanboys, it's Seiko's policy not to regulate their watches unless you pay $2.5 and more. The 70h pr of the watch I sold and certainly lost a lot, don't mean much as it's 21600 beats. The miyota 9 series, a high beat, very accurate is not just a workhorse, at it's price point beats movements x3 it's value. This belhamel is very nice, I would like to see a ceramic insert, drilled lugs and better lum pip. Thanks Peter for one more honest and detailed review, looking forward to the next.

Great watch for someone who likes a TIMEpiece. My gripe is generic. What is it with this lume nonsense? Go away. 99% of the time you are looking at your watch in daylight. Pretty much any surface on the hands in daylight is better than lume. Having said that this watch has a curious 'point of difference' inasmuch as there is no point of difference.
