The duo of Belichick & Brady were responsible for the 19-year domination of the Patriots. But it's quite clear to me that alone Belichick could never establish a winning season with any team as HC until Tom Brady came into his life. Accidentally even. And since Belichick likes control over team management and player choice, at this point in time I believe no team will take the risk in hiring him.
@mike2565

Could Brady? People quickly cite Tampa. That team was struggling at 7-5 off 2 consecutive losses going into bye week and month of December. Then their defense got hot making game very difficult for Brees, Rogers on the road in playoffs and finally Mahomes at home in SB. What other D has shutdown Mahomes and KC offense for 4 quarters in a meaningful game? Nothing against the great Tom Brady but great D and good offense enabled that Tampa SB run. Also, Belichick was instrumental as DC in 2 Giants SB wins. The 2nd w/“two pair” as LT likes to point out. In fact, the Giants D carried Belichick off the field after that win. Do you people ever think maybe Tom Brady’s incredible success had something to do w/playing for Belichick and the NE organization? Simply time for Belichick to retire after long and legendary career as Super Bowl champion coach.

@@mike2565 LOL! Many teams won SB's with great defenses, what's your point? DC doesn't count as HC, so don't know why you even brought the Giants up. Belichick went 84-112-1 (subject to change) as HC without Brady. As it stands now, the majority of football fans believe (rightfully so IMO) Brady is more responsible for those 6 Chips, than Belichick is. At the time Brady left New England, I was hesitant to say who was more responsible for the Pat's success between Belichick & Brady. I was giving Belichick the benefit of doubt, despite me knowing his sub .500 record as HC prior to Brady. Even totally excluding what Brady did in Tampa... the disaster that Belichick has looked like since Brady left, really seems to clear up who was primarily the one responsible for the Pat's success.

Belichick won 8 Super Bowls, 6 with New England and 2 as DC of the Giants. If you're not going to denote it as Head Coach, then you say 8. Then again, this is ESPN, not quite known for accuracy.

I think players have gained too much power above coaches, and it's ruining the game.

I like this Marcus Spears. And, Stephen A was spot on w/Mahomes giving new life to Andy Reid. That unqualified people on Internet are creating a narrative that Mahomes is not all that is utterly ridiculous. Dude is nothing but special. Look in that motherf*#@er’s eyes during game w/Bills should have John Harbaugh very concerned for his guy Lamar. I’m very much looking forward to this game Sunday w/o a specific rooting interest. Just thankful for the championship matchup. May the best QB and team win. Belichick should retire.

This is a new era of football. These older coaches can’t run that old style of football. Teams want young coaches that can relate to this new generation

new generation of sissy football where u cant hit a WR coming across the middle so hard..he WONT come across the middle anymore. NFL today may as well put flags on..In 70's..80's..90s (The Golden ERA) you rarely saw players meeting at mid field after game to exchange jerseys and take pictures..what a joke...every holy record will fall and an asterisk should be placed on All OFFENSIVE RECORDS..with 1 extra game., WR's free to run anywhere as they please , QB's knowing they can stand there without fear of getting decimated and if they do tack on extra 15 yards and maybe Def player ejected...This great game has been watered down to a bunch dudes playing tackle football at the park up the street....Its a shame too...but thats what Humans do...Make something great and ruin it by trying to reinvent it..to make it better...Which really only ends up ruining the thing that was great to start with

Everybody wants the younger coaches. Pete Carroll hasn’t garnered much if any interest so far either, and that’s an even bigger surprise tbh. Carroll is considered to be more player-friendly. Sean Payton will be fired from Denver if he doesn’t make it rain, because he’s old school in his approach…trying to imitate Bill Parcels ‘n’ sh!t. 😒😏
