Bell's inequality, or Bell's theorem, was discovered by John Stewart Bell in the 1960's. It purports to show that a theory of quantum mechanics must not have local hidden variables. While experiments tend to show this to be the case, it may just be that the experiments have not yet achieved parameter independence.
