I've had it since my car crash in November and I have upper lip control but my bottom lip doesn't quite do it and my eyebrow doesn't work yet. Thanks for being an inspiration because I'm always looking for someone that's been through this. In two days it's my 4 month mark of having this.

I live in London, Ontario, and was just stricken with a fairly severe case of BP one week ago today. Had all the tests done to rule out other causes. Had CT scan, blood tests, ECG, and met with Neurologist. Your videos have helped me and worried me at the same time. The prospect of months like this is daunting. I just want to be able to blink and close my eye. Sound in ear is loud as well, and it would be nice to taste food again. Thanks again for documenting your journey.

Wow I feel lucky even though at the time I didn't. Mine only last 2-4 months but my vision took about 8 months to completely return to 20/20. It's a humbling experience to say the least

That's the right way to think of BP... teaches us to respect and fully enjoy every single day because in a second (and for no apparent reason) everything can change!!!

Well being that I am that rare percent I can only look at the videos with envy. I have suffered from BP facial paralysis for almost 2 decades. From the age of 5 to today (23) I still have no eyebrow movement. I smile like Two-Faced lol and on my worst days my eye closes or droops on its own. If I see a doctor for my biannual physical I get the same question each time every year. "So how long have you had Bell's Palsey? Smile for me. Well that's interesting. I have never seen a case that has lasted so long." I feel like an exhibit in a art gallery each time. But enough pessimism I want to say to all of you be happy your symptoms are improving. Be happy you didn't have to grow up with people looking at you funny or you didn't have to endure cruel jokes for something you didn't have any control of. Smile because in all of your childhood memories you smiled without someone questioning why are you making a weird face or my favorite asking you to smile "normal". Smile because you didn't have to put on a brave face to walk out the door for 13years to face your peers in every stage of your educational life. Your self esteem shot constantly. Don't worry yourself. Because this is only temporary. I've lived with this nearly my entire life and you know what now I can smile, well partially lol. My point is BP isn't the end of the world life goes on. Just count your blessings its only 2 or more months not 2 decades

@ShawnShady76 I am too realistic to say I am completely recovered... but I have got the ability to smile, blink, talk properly, eat without making a mess, sleep without tape... all the IMPORTANT THINGS so that makes me happy! Everyone recovers at different rates. I started really noticing improvements at 2 months and the continue to now (10 months) I'm seeing small improvements every week still. My recovery is slow... hopefully yours will not be! Take Care!

First sorry for my bad english. I have this Bell's Palsy since two days. I will not make a pregnison therapie in case of high blood pressure and pre diabetis. What is your experience with self therapying this issue? I must say, I can close my eye but only when the healthy one is closed too, I can move my lips and eyebrows but it's kind of weakened. How is it now for you? Did you full recover? Greetings from germany.

Your English is great! I hope I understood you though. Due to having high blood pressure and being pre-diabetic, you do not want to take Prednisone? I’d that correct? I am not a doctor, but have been the administrator of a FB group for over 10 years of a BP support page, which has grown to over 7000 people! I have seen and heard a lot from different people all over the world who have had BP or know someone who has! The one common thread is that no two cases are the same! And the reality is most cases resolve on their own without any treatment at all, while others, don’t resolve WITH treatment! I personally believe we have the power to heal ourselves from the inside out, we just have to be willing to put in effort to change our lifestyle and give our body the tools to fully heal! Take vitamins, get lots of rest, don’t stress yourself out more! Have you got your risk for diabetes being managed? To me that is possibly a contributing factor that if you can rectify, your body will be under less stress and should ultimately help recovery take place!

I was diagnosed with Bell's palsy 4 days ago and I'm an emotional mess! I don't like going in public and having people stare at me. I am constantly trying to hid my face. I pray that this gets easier as time passes and that I can make a full recovery

THANK YOU for asking Mike... but yes, I'd have to say I am doing way better than I was here! I was under a terrible amount of stress at that time and it took about 2 years for all that to pass and really allow my body to relax and heal! I still have synkinesis, but it's so mild and a non-BPer would never notice ;) My new AMAZING husband tells me I'm beautiful every day, so that's all that matters to me! How are you, Mike?

2nd time for me....opposite side. Im at the 4 month mark, Im slightly better than you are....but not very much. I didnt have the prednisone this time......parts of me which I did because it "may" have helped........or maybe not....too late now though!!! Somewhere along the way I "inherited" a pulsative tinnitus in my ear on the wonky side.....drive me nuts. Have had a ct scan nothing showed up......waiting to see a neurologist at this present time. I understand what you were saying about people saying "Oh its lots better" but on a bad day......it means nothing. What people dont understand is being on this side of it some days just makes me feel like crap!!! I do believe that depression has hit me both times while Ive had it......but the first time it was gone within 4 weeks......this time.....right now......feels like forever!!!
