thanks for that. I've been looking at you tube for days compiling ideas for a diy. Yours is definitely the best one yet in my opinion. Not over or under built, elegantly simple and versatile. Your video will give me the basics of what I want to do and I've got the sense of direction I was after. I also like your style. Too many longwinded videos out there. The guy who runs the pizza joint in my neighborhood is like that in real life. Thanks- Mark

Hi...... I have never had any issues with the belt at all. I use a Power Twist belt. It was recommended when I was building the sander. I was a bit skeptical, but it works great! You can see it stretch on start up. I don't even really have it that tight. Hope this helps. Search "Power Twist V Belts"

i just finished a grinder like this and it works but I am having trouble with belt slap. It just jumps up and down between the wheels where the belt is slack. did you have any of that when you started yours up. this is a great design and I am looking forward to smoothing things out with the belt.

Great work on the Belt Grinder. I am planning on building one this winter when things slow down a bit. Very nice design! Appears to have minimum number of welds. Where did you get the wheels from? Expensive? Are there lock washers keeping the tension for the position of the platen, or a spring, or? Thank you for posting the videos!

Meybe just the best one on yt! Very versatile! It could be used for woodworking, knife and straight razor making....cleaning, polishing ! You name it! I wont bother you for plans, since i think in metric! :D Also, this is one model that can be made of ANY size, with just about any motor, and any number of gears. One just has to figure out for himself what speed ratios he would need, and get according motor. Everything else is up to imagination ! :) Just don't remove video for some time of next three or four months. Not everything is available here! :)

Hi Jon, very nice belt grinder. I've also built mine and i face small issue with the tracking of the belt. When i start and stop the grinder the belt is moving left and right before it aligns, yours seems to be very stable! I can't find a position where the belt don't move, i can't let the grinder alone for 1 min without re-align... Do you have any advice regarding the wheels or anything else which would help me? Thank you in advance

The plans have been the "Monkey on my back" or "White Elephant" you pick. I pretty much have everything complete except the CAD drawings. I have had several say they will crank the drawing out, but always seam to flake. Anyway, I am playing with Solid Works on my own and am trying to get them done myself. Never thought it would drag on like this. Thanks for the interest and stay tuned!
