Great song. Can't believe I never knew about Ben Harper. Just discovered him from the book I'm reading, which I took out of the library when I was 13, but had to return, because it was new. After all these years bought it, ha ha and it's funny to see the synchronization of 2001 and 2016. Something are always relevant.

Jack Johnson is casual chillaxin music at its finest. I listen to this guy when Im drinking coffee, when I'm on my way to the groceries, hangin out at the beach, during a bbq and picnic, chillaxin with my girlfriend, when Im smoking a joint, when I'm eating ice cream, when I'm reading the newspaper, driving home from work etc.

Could be wrong here but for the intro it sounds like an A major-shaped bar chord at the 7th fret, an A major-shaped bar chord at the 5th fret, an E major-shaped bar chord at the 5th fret and then back up to the A major-shaped bar chord at the 7th fret. For the verse it is exactly the same but the E-shaped bar chord repeats twice. So the chords are E, D, A and E for intro and E, D and A for verse. Doesn't sound too bad just playing thee chords in open positions either. Hope this helps.

As a black woman, I can't relate to this song! Whomever wrote it must have dealt with a lot of fake 'lovers' with low self-esteem. And who would deal with partners with low esteem? People who emit the same vibration. Although I understand the song,I can't relate to it. I've never had a boyfriend or lover whom I felt an obligation to love them. I'd just find someone I could love with my whole heart and spirit. I guess that's the difference. They must have white mothers. No offense, their mixed.
