A shorter threading video documenting a 35mm test screening of one of the biggest films ever made, Ben-Hur (1959).
This 35mm print was not in its iconic Ultra Panavision (2:76:1) aspect ratio, but rather in the more screen-filling 2:35:1 ratio. From my research, this was the aspect ratio used for a majority of the 35mm re-release prints made for Ben-Hur.
This 35mm screening was a test run for an upcoming 35mm presentation, which was planned to have no intermission, so the entire feature was spliced onto one platter, so as you could imagine, the feature, built-up, was bigger than Ben-Hur!
Let's hope the 4K Blu-ray for Ben-Hur will be released in its intended aspect ratio of 2:76:1 (Ultra Panavision). This aspect ratio is even wider than the glorious 3-strip Cinerama format.
Thank you for watching, be sure to like the video and subscribe for more 70mm and 35mm related videos.
