You guys kill me sometimes. Saying this guy is good at bench because he's short is like saying Michael Jordan was good at basketball because he was tall. Look at the conditioning on this guy. He worked for what he can do. Having shorter arms does shorten his range but so does widening your grip (which he didnt). This is world class strength guys. If you can't keep up then give credit and work harder.

People talk about shorter arms having a smaller range of motion making it easier--That is part of it, but the real advantage is the muscles themselves have better leverage to act on the bones when the bones are shorter. I only make that distinction because I am short (5'7") but my armspan is about 6'1", and my bench sucks lol

Somethings that will get your bench up are closed griped bench and incline bench. Just train your tris and shoulders hard and you dumbbells too.Make sure you get a good diet, adequate rest and don't neglect any other muscle group. I hoped this helped and good luck.

i went from maxing 130 6 months ago to maxing 235 now. im still goin :D and ive lost nearly 70 Ibs. in my journey. i work out 6 times a week and it sure is paying off. i know some people say work out each muscle no more than twice a week but i kinda think thats bull. i work out each muscle 3 times a week and ive seen huge gains. so idk but everyones different

Awesome job man!! Do you have any tips on how to increase weight on bench? I am 24, 5'10" 175lbs and I have done almost 2 rounds of P90X. I do all push ups with a 24 pound weighted vest and I blast through them pretty easily. But I went to my University's wellness center today and could not even bench 225. I got a little discouraged. Any help would be appreciated. Very impressive again!

Probably. TBH he looks like he could be a little shorter even. IMO it doesn't matter though. In the end of the day it is all relative. People like to come up with all the excuses they want, but the only one being taller truly gives you is the fact that it takes longer to fill out your frame. Being short makes you lighter naturally so you'll have a harder time stabilizing the weight. Although a taller guy has longer limbs, he also has that much more potential mass to pack on meaning in the long run he should be lifting MORE weight than the short guy. Being taller also give you more muscle mass naturally because you need more muscle tissue to go along your bones. Short people just tend to have a lot more heart than other people. That's why guys like this usually can do crazy shit like dunking a basketball even though they are like 5'4. Same here. When someone benches 315 for reps, you just need to put this kind of shit behind you and respect their accomplishment. Not many people, short or tall, natural or on roids, can do that.

He doesn't need to do a pause rep if he is not in a power lifting contest...only power lifters that join contests have to do that. His reps look good for body building . He is obviously still strong.

p90x is for cutting fat and building ripped muscle, which will compromise your strength granted push ups will increase your bench you can only get so much strength from push ups even with a vest, you'll have to use the bench more to get your bench press up. I'm only 5'11 170 and my max as of about 3 months ago was 300 which was the last time I maxd. Ive been doing the German volume workout for a while to increase my bench which is 10 sets of 10 at about 165-170 but other chest workouts as well

It isn't that simple but relatively shorter limb sizes are a big advantage for bench press. Also, the nervous system and stabilizer strength/limb width is more important than 'muscle size' in regards to strength especially with push movements.

@miajjay I think a lot of it has to do with wat muscles you focus on in your routine. A big powerful chest will make you appear much larger than someone of the same weight with a weak chest but big powerful back muscles. Also, your legs are your largest and heaviest muscle group so if you have skinny legs but a strong upper body, you will appear much heavier than are.

Nice man! I'm 165 and my max is 325. I know I can't get 315 5 times! The most I've gotten was 315 twice. Great job! How much can you squat?? The most I've put up was 505, but since then my max now is 460!
