I’d classify it in the same category as other legends of similar size like the Buck 110 and Spyderco Military. It’s a large, do-it-all folder. EDC, First Responder, outdoor utility. It’s essentially BM’s 110. I’ve been carrying the plain aluminum with S90 for a month now. I was gonna keep it as a safe queen but that lasted a few days. I use it like it’s intended now. Just like the 710 I carried in the early 2000s, it’s awesome.

@@LanningKann I’ve been carrying this one a bit more and really like how easy it is to carry given its size. I’m eyeing the S90V one as well now. Wish I had gotten into this model sooner!

@@TriedandTrueEDC I feel you there. I was going to get the Magnacut one you have but I truly love BM’s S90. I’m a first responder and have been carrying this on and off duty. It’s crazy how much length they were able to build into this slim knife. I hadn’t carried a 710 in 20 years and forgot how great they are. I may pick up a second one of these to keep minty in the event I lose or destroy this one. Now, if we could only get BM to re-do the AFCK with this level of build…. That’s my favourite folder of all time.

@@LanningKannOoooo, a remake of the AFCK would be awesome! I personally haven’t handled one, but truly appreciate the older models from BM. Their newer models look good as well, but certainly a lot pricier than I remember their knives to be 😆 The only S90V I have from BM is the 940-1. It’s not an easy steel to sharpen, least for me. Is BM your go-to brand?

I ordered mine yesterday, it will be my fourth 710, that includes the first year model from 25 years ago, then about 10 years ago, picked up a blue handled custom with with M390, and then my favorite 710 is a Gold series Damascus blade with Carbon Fiber handles and G10 blue inlays, Beautiful knife from Knife Art and it cost the same 600 as this new one, may have been 550 but, I have a soft spot for the best feeling and functioning knife I've ever known. I have 4 nice Rockstead's that make the Benchmade seem really cheap for a big 4 inch Magnacut knife, that's the way I justified it. At least it's not 1,500. I'm not rich enough to collet cars, boats or houses, so knives are my sweat addiction. Oh, and a lifetime working hard, staying out of court's and family law crap, helps you travel the world with a smile. I'm so happy to have found this channel to see I'm not the only one that loves pocket knives in the same way. Practical, useful and beautiful knives, razor sharp at all times. It's just fun to own, hold, flip and use. Sad to hear you say they didn't do a good job with the hardening of the Magnacut, but I guess I'll have to relay on my M390, V90's, V110 and ZDP-189 and will probably pick up the P2 Spyderco with Magnacut as well. Most of my collection is divided between Benchmande, Microtech, Spyderco, Pro tech, Chris Reeves, Rockstead, Gerber and Victorinox. Funny thing is, I was going to put a bunch on Ebay to free up some cash, but they are like my kids, I can't decide to just dump a few. So I went the other way and bought two more yesterday and will probably get two more next week. It's been years since new knives have shown up at my door. It's time. I'll comment on the new one next week.

I can certainly relate to your sentiments about how my collection resonates with what I consider my valuables. There’s something about the craftsmanship of knives that really draw me in, that and how practical it is to carry one. My comment about the hardness is only hearsay as that is what I’ve read online and what I’ve seen posted on some online retailers. I don’t have the equipment to test it, and at the end of the day I’m not losing sleep over it and still plan to put it to use. Thank you for sharing your experience and taking the time to comment on my channel 🙏🏼 👊🏼

Good review and totally agree. Nice knife but not worth the premium price! CRK, Medford or Hinderer for that price.

Bill McHenry and Jason Williams it took them four years and then sold the patent to Benchmade Benchmade that's a fact.

Wow, I had no idea, thank you for shedding light on that history! I've always thought the Axis lock is a great mechanism that truly allows for ambidextrous carry.

They didn't sell the AXCS lock patent to Benchmade--they licensed it.

That is one ridiculously over priced knife. The knife is not worth it.
