DUDE. Roof of the mouth. How have I never seen this before. Instant improvement after hearing that, I'm a long time casual player and wanted to start getting some 1st position scales happening, thank you.

Ah-ha! I commented in one of your other videos that i was having trouble with my 1 & 2 hole bends. I mentioned that i was keeping my oral cavity and tongue position the same as the 3 hole bends but moving my tongue rearwards. Your point on the position of the tongue regarding the roof of the mouth and not the rear of the throat turned on the light for me. I immediately grabbed my harp and started messing around with your suggestion. Voila! I am now getting the 2 hole to bend and even more surprising to me, is that I am also getting the 1 hole to bend. Now, it's off to practice getting all bends to land on their correct pitch at will. Thanks so much Ronnie! Peace and harp on!

Hey Ronnie , thanks for the video, really helpful. I developed tinnitus 3 months ago.... :( but your videos inspire me to keep playing.

I've also figured out after watching this that after initially learning to bend by tilting the harmonica up at times to assist bending notes, once you get to grips with bending, holding it level or even tilting it down slightly helps to give a clearer tone. Especially on 3 hole draw bends. For me anyway...!

Ronnie ... beginner here, I can bend the 6 and 4 holes and I am starting to get the 3 hole bends but struggling. Listening to you has helped but would it be possible if you were able to put pen to paper and draw out the different positions of the tongue for the C harp? Or have you done something like that already? I think seeing a chart of tongue positions might help a lot of people.

Ronnie, please tell me, in your opinion, which are the best OOTB harps for bending, including overblows? (Hopefully, you're not going to mention the super expensive ones.)
@Harmonica123
5 жыл бұрын
every harp is different out of the box but of course a more expensive harmonica, like a Hohner Crossover, will typically give you a better shot at accomplishing all overblows and all out of the box. most harmonicas need some tweaking for that in my experience.

Any tips for the blow bends on the higher harps Ronnie? On my E Crossover the high 10B bends are pretty hard.
@Harmonica123
5 жыл бұрын
not sure you really need to bend that 10 on an E..I never use the upper blow bends on very high keys. just not as usable being so high. i stick to G,Ab,A,Bb,B,C for those blow bends.

@@Harmonica123 Thanks Ronnie. Yeah they're just too awkward to hold and finesse.
