“Jaane-waale sipahi se puchho, who kahan jaa raha hai?” (“Ask the soldier who is going to the battleground, where is he going?”)
For what’s sake human beings go to the war? Do they really want the war who actually fight? And, what is the ultimate solution to this an-eye-for-an-eye game?
Many of these much debated but unsolved questions form the background of the conversation between Subhash Daa and Manju who clearly depicts we are standing on the verge of a clueless era where many people fight war just for the sake of their families’ livelihood. They are compelled to destroy others’ homes while to protect their own, and, that is the burning conflict that lies in the core of this lyrical conversation. The story unfolds from Siachen to Burhan Wani, to the newly joined Bengali soul in the trench who recites Wilfred Oyen’s poetry even in the battlefield, and at last, climaxed in an unexpected turn.
In the character of Subhash Daa, we have Kamaleshwar Mukhopadhyay, and Ananya Chatterjee in the character of Manju. Vocals and Music is arranged by Swaralipi Dasgupta and Saikat Mukherjee. The lyrical conversation is written and directed by Amay Deb Roy. Script writing & direction have been assisted by Spandan Chatterjee.
