I have always felt that Benny Hill got a raw deal and that anything suggestive that he did was no worse than anything you would see in a 'Carry On' film, which leaves me puzzled as to why Benny Hill isn't considered politically correct whereas the 'Carry On' films have become legendary!

I read of a study by feminists in an Edinburg collage and view his sketches with females. Non found offense as most ended with the males running for there life’s chased by stronger females.!! Thames tv fired Benny for nothing really and that broke his heart.
@MatgoStyles

It's an urban myth that Thames fired him for that sort of humour. The reality is, the programmes cost so much to make and they were declining in popularity so they weren't making enough money to pay for themselves. It was a matter of business, not political correctness.

@@karylhogan5758 It's unfortunate that you've chosen to write me off as a liar rather than do some basic research. There is a very good documentary about Benny called Living Famously where many of his friends and colleagues are interviewed. While some friends speculate on the show being cancelled because it wasn't PC, those in the know state the cost of the programme and its decline in popularity was the overriding reason for cancellation. There have also been numerous, meticulously researched books published including those by Mark Lewisohn and Dennis Kirkland, both of which support what I have said. And then there are the TV schedules from 1989 onwards (post cancellation) all of which are documented in archives which show that reruns of Benny's shows continued to be broadcast even though they stopped being produced. The 'PC' argument is, and always has been, nothing but hearsay.
