This is definitely intended for those people who want Dyac / low motion blur, and don’t care about VRR. Adding VRR to this display would probably only exacerbate every one of the issues you’ve identified. Also, you do NOT NEED VRR in 2021 - plenty of people value motion-blur reduction above screen-tearing, or play at 144+ Hz, and don’t use their display for any other purpose.

Hi, Overdrive can be configured in the factory menu. (Power off, hold down buttons #3 and #4 while pressing power to power on, then press button #5 after). You can change the OD Gain setting there between 255 hexadecimal levels. DyAc has independent settings for DyAc High and DyAC Premium. To change these settings, enter the service menu (power off, hold button #4 while pressing power, then button #4 after), and you can change the Intensity and Area settings. The "Brightness" value in the OSD is saved for each DyAc setting. This applies to monitors with DyaC High and DyAC Premium. The monitors with only one DyAc setting "on" only have one linked setting. Make sure you save the setting to the Gamer OSD setting so you don't lose it later. Change your OSD brightness to "100" for each DyAc setting, then change the "Intensity" setting to your liking. Intensity 25=dimmest, most blur reduction, Intensity 1=brightest, least blur reduction. I would not suggest a value below "15". This is how it works on the XL2546K, XL2546S, and XL2746S. I do not know if all of this applies to the XL2411K.

Suitably critical review of the XL2411K. I've never found BenQ's XL series well-tuned for pixel responsiveness or gamma. Such a huge gap between 'Off' and 'High' for AMA. This particular model uses the same panel family used back in the XL2411T days; AUO M240HW01 V8. Yup, a panel from 10 years ago! DyAc really is the party piece of this model, outside of that it doesn't really offer a compelling experience.

I have the EX2510S AND the XL2411K.... my opinion? the xl2411k has better colours than people give it credit for. The brightness is also more than enough even though it dimms when enabling dyac. I really don't understand the hate on this monitor. Yes the EX2510S is quick and the colours/detail is super impressive, however i actually prefer gaming on the zowie. I play fps 95% of the time. The reason for this? Well firstly, its very responsive, less motion blur than the EX. Furthermore for some reason i get eye strain on the ex2510s even with eye care mode and blue light filter maxed out. The zowie however feels easier on the eyes and doesn't give me issues. Not sure why the IPS would give me red eyes... either way, i am glad benq are still making esport monitors using tn. I hope ips will never take over tn.

Im at a 2411p still and gaming feels fast but i tried ordering the MSI optix G242 and it was ordered then micro center cancelled it because there was one left and someone got it right before me. I love IPS panels and if they have a faster response time at 144Hz now and $300 and under im ready for a new one.

Gigabyte just announced their new M32Q monitor. Very interesting feature set with the USB C + KVM docking capabilities, and based on the video you did for the "little brother" M27Q last year it might be a good value monitor as well. Here's hoping you'll do a review of it when it comes out!

The reason it looks so bad at 60hz is because it double strobes which causes duplication. It would look too flickery otherwise. That sucks because XL2411P didn't double strobe so you were getting a really clean image which is great for retro games like Sonic the Hedgehog. All future Blur Busters Approved monitors will have 60hz single strobe so BenQ's TNs are no longer needed, maybe not even for higher refresh rates. The next Blur Busters Approved monitor seems to be ViewSonic XG2431 which will be able to strobe between 60hz and 240hz at any refresh rate.

Hey Tim. I may have missed it during the video but was Dyac on at all as I was expecting a whole lot better than what was produced. I only say this because of all the reviews I have seen of the XL2546K which has Dyac+ and is a 240hz monitor. Would love to see you find the response times for that beast of a monitor as all other reviews have failed to do so as they simply don't have the know how or can do that you, yourself, presents. A great review once again. Is there any chance that you could include whether a monitor has the option of display scaling at all in the future. I have heard that display scaling helps enable the possibility of exclusive full screen gaming, which from experience makes a huge difference while playing fast paced games. I currently play using the Asus PG258Q 240hz and game on exclusive full screen mode and the difference is night and day while playing Fortnite which is fast paced but I would like to know whether display scaling lessens the overall latency as my monitor, the PG258Q, lacks support for display scaling. Who knows, maybe this can be another section you can do for the absolute raw latency input focused gamers out there. Love the content as always and simply cannot wait to see the review for the BenQ Zowie XL2546K. If you are privy to information about upcoming releases from BenQ Zowie could you please let us know whether they are focusing on a 360hz or higher refresh rate monitor in the future. Apologies for the ramble. Thank you once again Tim.

Literally the only thing this monitor has over its competitors is backlight strobing at 60 Hz. If you're playing retro games or modern games with locked FPS that need good motion clarity (ex: console racing games, all fighting games), then this monitor probably is the best option for that narrow genre of games. However, literally everything else is a downside, and it's extremely difficult to recommend a monitor like this unless you're after the exact niche I just mentioned.

Another quality review, well done! Having said that, TN, 1080p, in 2021? I guess I shouldn't be one to talk, I bought into the whole "1ms, blazing fast TN technology!" stuff as a kid. Still, glad to see there are options and reviews like this around for people that are in the same shoes that I was.

@Falcon_ Are they, though? We're getting amazing IPS panels capable of high refresh rate and low response time. Look at the ASUS ROG Swift PG259QN that Tim reviewed a while back (november iirc). If I remember correctly, he called it "class leading" in the 1080p high refresh-rate gaming segment. Aka competitive gaming.

It only adds a tiny amount of input lag which is not really a problem. As far as I know it's getting in and out of adaptive sync range constantly that can hurt your performance.

@l2eckless140

This is exactly the point that is being missed in this video. The backlight strobing (dyac) completely eliminates the ghosting that he is talking about. So with backlight strobing you get the crazy fast response times and smooth motion all together.
