I do believe that this Soleus targetting is one of the many myths in physio. This paper actually shows that they did not find any differences in Soleus hypertrophy: "Triceps surae muscle hypertrophy is greater after standing versus seated calf-raise training" (Momoka Kinoshita et al, 2023) . This channel was a really good starting point for my insertional achilles tendinopathy, and I was able to fully recover. However, you sometimes make some bold claims which are not really evidence based. I think this is already a big issue in physiotherapy which I found to be a field full of 'anecdotal' evidence.

I think you may have misunderstood the aim of this video - here are the highlights: 1. We are not saying that calf raises targeting the Soleus are a key element to any rehab for Achilles 2. We are reporting on a study that showed that when you do them in standing, the force is translated mostly into the midportion part of the Soleus part of the Achilles tendon 3. Whether these exercises cause muscle hypertrophy or not, is not the valuable point here. It is how they load the tendon that is of interest. 4. The point is, that if these exercises cause you pain, then it might be due to how they place the strain on the injured part of the tendon - especially when the tendon isn't yet ready for that much strain. 5. But also, we know there is no one-size-fits-all exercise plan that works for everyone. So, if you are not making progress with your rehab regardless of doing really heavy strength training in other positions, then it might make a big difference to switch to these types of exercises and this is something that we have observed in some of our patients. 6. But like Ali said - not everyone will benefit from these and most people don't need them

is it recommended to do the bend knee calf rain while there is pain, especially for folks with IAT ? does IAT cause to ankle to swell up, limit ROM ? Can shockwave therapy relive the pain of IAT, so that the patient can do these exercises mentioned in the video ?
