Typically, Bentonite clay, as well as the other clays, are applied to both the scalp and hair strands. Bentonite clay has both cleansing and conditioning properties, so it does not make sense to only apply it to the scalp. Bentonite clay actually conditions, moisturizes, softens, and reduces frizz. It also encourages curl definition and shine. Hence, it is ideal to apply it from root to tip, not just the scalp

I've used bentonite clay several times. The detoxifying properties are very true. I had this really bad pain in my scalp once and decided to use a bentonite clay mask (mixed with tea tree). I kid you not by the next day the inflammation was gone. To me, bentonite clay is one of the greatest gifts the Earth has given us.

I completely understand why you would say to use an acidic fluid with bentonite clay to lower the ph. However, my hair is extremely low in porosity so I benefit from this high alkaline product. I do follow up with a more acidic mixture to balance it out. I use the clay every two weeks to wash my hair and swell up my cuticles to receive the moisture from the deep conditioner (okra based, I add pure honey and Aloe Vera Juice) that I follow up with. Once a month, I follow up with a fermented rice water rinse (which is also a protein treatment). To style my hair I apply an Okra based moisturizer/styler (if I don’t have that I just cook the okra myself and add some oils to it). After this I either braid it up or twist it up. Apply moisturizer after 2 days to retwist. Saturate my hair in the shower every week and add the same moisturizer. Every two weeks is wash day. That’s it. Took me a while to find a routine that works for me but think I’ve finally got it down. I had to completely walk away from the LOC/LCO and even LO methods. At this point it’s probably the M method?? Although my moisturizer is quite creamy so could also just be the C method 🤔 My hair loves milks and serums, that kind of thing. LOVES honey!! Butters are almost a definite no no (fine 4b hair). Oils(especially olive oil) and Aloe Vera work in conditioners, not as stand alone products layered on top of other products.

I love bentonite clay for our hair. After I rinse it out and apply the deep conditioner, it just seems to melt right into our strands and penetrates the hair shaft much better. I use it more often on my 13 year old's hair because she has low porosity hair and that just seem to stay moisturized. I also add rhassoul clay to our deep conditioners (for the wash days we use shampoo) and it helps the conditioner really penetrate into our strands.

I mix bentonite, kaolin and Rhassoul clay to get all the benefits of each, add ACV to bring the pH down and add some honey and palm kernel oil to moisturise so that it isn't too drying and balances out the clay and ACV. It's a really good pH balanced, non-drying hair cleanser. And then I follow it up with a herbal hair rinses. Yeah, over-complicated, I know - but it works really well for me! :)

Great info Nappy Fu. The only exception I see to not adding to the ends of hair, is in my case where I do add to my ends after any surgery where anesthesia is given, such as in the case of the major surgery I just had. In this case I find it absolutely necessary to apply all over the hair. Anesthesia creates havac to all of your system. It really creates havac on your hair and even nails and skin. It's so important to flush this out of your system following a surgery as soon as possible. This is something that even your surgeon suggests. Anesthesia can even stay in your system creating havac months later. As a person who has had her share of surgeries, I can attest to this. Not only how it slugs other parts of our body hindering it from easily getting rid of waste and toxins including residual anesthesia, but the extra fallout and shedding I experience, and even the change in texture of my hair. As a result, there are steps that I now take to protect my hair before and after. As this last surgery, an ACDF on my cervical spine, I knew that it would be more than a month before I could even do my hair again, as I'm still not allowed to raise my arms above my head or even drive my car. Therefore extra TLC to my 4C hair was necessary before, and still remains in a protective style, but even so I know that it needs detoxifing of the anesthesia, my daughter helps me keep it moisturized, but it now dries out so quickly, for me a dead give away of the amount of anesthesia still in it. So as soon as I am given the go-ahead by my doctor's, I will be doing your regimen here, but all over everyone one of my strands, followed by intense conditioning. Just thought I'd share this with you and anyone else who it may come as a concern to for thought.

Infiniti Williams hi ms williams just saw your reply. so sorry!! I use the clay mask every time I shampoo since I only do wash n go's. so I really need to make sure all of that gel is out. I am so far only using the clay based shampoos. so I really only wash my hair every 2 weeks because I make my hairdos last that long. You have got to try it, your hair will start curling after you wash, and you have no product in it! So you can imagine when you add that gel or curling cream, BEAUTIFUL!!

Actually since I have low porosity thick strand hair, I like to use clay just because they have high Ph. I just use water. Nothing acidic. Then I restore my ph by doing an ayurvedic treatment (which are usually acidic) mix with some rice water. And also, I assure that my leave is acidic. So for my leave in I would use a mix that contains aloe juice, hibiscus infusion and okra gel. That routine works great on my hair. But of course, people needs to make their own research and adapted the use based to their own personal hair needs.

Thank you so much. Thank you for insisting on using bentonite. I also discovered Greenbeauty thanks to you. I use rhassoul cla as a shampoo for 3 years now. When I mixed it with bentonite and apply it on my hair, after 10 min, I washed it, my hair was like we never ever ever going back again. I saw curls I didn't know I had, it was so clean and moiturised. Awesome. Bentonite, a game changer! THE GAME CHANGER. God bless you! I'm learning to love my hair and it's a beautiful journey. I've been natural for 10 years now but due to sickle cell, I've experienced hair fall, my hair stopped growing, always so fragil. I'm fighting now using bentonite, ayurvedic, collagen...Can't wait to see the result in 6 months.

So glad you posted early, got my Sunday morning right. I use bentonite 1 a week or every 2 weeks in a face mask. It is a great skin detox for my oily and acne prone skin. I will never use it in my hair because I don't want it going down the drain, I teach art and clay clogs the drain. It cost over $1k to fix the sink at work the first year I taught ceramics, I'm not about that life.

I looked that up a while ago.....I read that facial clay doesn't clog drains unless used in a excessive amount. As in tons of it on a regular bases. So I definitely was concerned about that too but so far no problems there. I use it like once or twice a month. It possibly clogging drains is something to consider when using this though and then it also depends what type of drain system you have too. So its definitely something one needs to research. Good point you made.

Hi NappyFu. love from Barbados. i use Bentonite clay....Rhassoul Clay and just recently enjoyed Kaolin Clay. I love all 3. I use clay once a week for 3 weeks then on week 4 shampoo to clarify OR every 2 weeks alternate between shampoo and clay.....depends on how my weeks are organised.... I've found Bentonite a bit drying for my 4c kinks and coils so in recent times I've found combining it with a more moisturizing clay like kaolin to help.

I tried it first with water and I love it. It made it easier to deranged my hair. When I used it with ACV it made my dyed red hair orange. Lol. And it was more tangled and dry after ACV. I currently have it on my head right now with water.

Please clarify: my hair hasn't been washed in 2 weeks. So using the clay on my wet hair be replacing shampooing my hair? If so do I then deep condition afterwards?

I've used bentonite clay on my hair and my face...I absolutely LOVE the results...I'm glad you cleared up what exactly bentonite clay does for our hair and about not just adding water to it...cuz my sis is allergic to acv so I was just gonna use water for her hair...now I know we'd be better off with aloe Vera juice...thanks as always for these lovely videos

Hey Nappyfu love your videos. I have been using Bentonite Clay since I was a teenager, but only for a face mask (does wonders for the skin). Mom used to give it all the females in the family to use. Yes, we used it with ASV. Let me tell everyone this, the thicker the mask you will fill the pulsation if you will let it completely dry. When you was off do in circular motion with warm water or it will hurt coming off.

I subscribed to your channel it think in 2016 (can't remember) BUT we got the same hair type so every video you have on your channel has A LOT of significance to me!!! Bentonite Clay made my hair look like a 4a/4b the first time I used it. My hair has never felt so great. You're great. Also your African accent cracks me up; I do my Haitian accent around my friend for the same reason you do..spice it up a bit. :P lol

Thank you! The concept sounds like a messy disaster that would take forever to rinse out, but.... the walkthrough helps. I happen to have some clay already so I will try this.

Hey NappyFu, I love this video, and I love ALL the clays! I'm glad to know you use ACV in your bentonite clay, because that's how I mix mine. I use this mixture on my hair and scalp, and on my face. Thank you, thank you, thank you for letting us know to keep the clay OFF the ends...I did not know that! Thank you for all the informative and entertaining videos!

I use all the clays or at least I used to before starting my new Loc journey. I use Aloe and ACV along with water, an oil or two for my concoction. I like to let my Bentonite clay dry up before I rinse. I never had problems getting them out. I even sell a Rhassoul clay shampoo on my site.
