I have this exact rifle in 6.5. Have you tried Hornady 140 ELD or 143 ELD-X? Coincidentally Bergara uses the 143 for “proof” of their sub MOA guarantee, both of these rounds have been excellent for me

@@AlaskanBallistics : I haven’t hunted with the ELD-X, but I thought it was supposed to be a dedicated hunting bullet? I get insanely tight groups at 100 yards with both rounds, better than any other rifle I have. Funny you mention hunting, the B-14HMR was my first “hunting rifle”, I didn’t know much about it having just used AR’s in the military. Compared to my buddies’s rifles the thing is a tank, it wouldn’t be bad in a blind, but hours of trekking with it has me considering something lighter.

Apparently they will strip out and cause the rifle to stop working. I have the bad bolt shroud as well. We will see how Bergara handles this

Your biggest issue is following load data from a manual. Every time companies publish updates to their load data, the charge weights drop. This is to avoid potential laws suits from gun malfunctions or over pressure loads. Most of the loads I have developed over the years are over max listed charges. You will usually find a good accuracy node up about 1 to 3 grains over book max, calibre dependant. My fave 150gr 270 load is 5 grains over max load and shoots half inch at 100. It's trucking along at over 3000fps. No pressure signs, sticky bolt, case head expansion, etc. As with all load development tread with caution. Every gun behaves differently.
@robcooper1330

My HMR in 6.5 creed runs into pressure about a half grain before max. It shoots half inch so I don't complain if it's not quite as fast.
@albertlemont5471
Жыл бұрын
Does not apply to all manuals or rifles. I have a 300wm that runs with hot over published loads. I also have a 6.5 PRC that has a node lower than book max and a higher node right at max. The max load is hot and swells primer pockets that reduces brass life. One manufacturer stops their load data at an accuracy node and goes no further. Brass, chamber, barrel twist, primers combinations can produce very different pressure levels.

I've hand loaded for 30 some odd years now and I've only seen one rifle in 30-06 that likes Barnes bullets and I've tried to in around 20 different rifles and calibers and over all average of 2 inches some better some worse but I get amazing accuracy of the 130 terminal accent bullet

@@AlaskanBallistics I've tried from 5 thousands up to 30 thousands but I'm having decent luck with the LRX and it opens a lot better it's my second favorite bullet only beat out by terminal accent because it opens at lower velocities then the LRX but the LRX is a great hunting bullet and there's nothing wrong with it, I'm just not a fan of the ttsx bullet I texted it in jell at 100 yards out of a 6.5 creed and it barely opened up at all and it was factory ammo I'd say it wouldn't open up at 200 yards and would preform the a FMJ but anyway I love your videos and I think you do a good job at comparing different bullets, I only hunt whitetails tho and your concentrated on bigger game but some bullets are great for both and thanks for the feedback

I would be interested to see the inside of your stock, literally 2 weeks ago I sent my b14 HMR (300WM) back to the factory. I found the stock coating covering the mount points between the stock and action. I cleaned it tried again and same thing, groups range from .8-1.5 and even as bad as 2” groups. Took it apart again and found the action is moving in the stock under recoil, found a lot of rub/chaffing between stock and action. Also in alaska and shoot often at birchwood. Before you get too crazy with the ammo load ups check your stock and action. Also the action lug is free floated in the stock and is not bedded the way it should be on my gun. Something worth checking for sure.

With the same box of ammo it would shoot a .8 group and 3 groups over 1.5….. so frustrating. Still waiting to hear back from them, also without changing optic settings my point of impact was changing, one group would be high left the next low right and so on, ammo from the same box with no dope change.

Got lucky on an 8 pounder of Superformance while in Nashville. Never tried it before. VERY happy with the velocities in my 270s and 280 Rem. Accuracy 3/4" and better with Barnes LRX and TTSX bullets. Got lucky again and found it at midsouthshooterssupply so got 4 more pounds that I just unboxed 10 min ago. My experience is velocities are most certainly impressive and I don't mind a bit larger group since most of my hunting shots are under 400 yards and I don't mind even a 6" group a that distance with the BARNES bullets. I'm not sure how they'd perform beyond that. Never experienced it or needed to I don't have a 6.5CM but do have the 6.5-284 and found a great load with the 127 LRX over 59.0gr H1000
